Hey, I’m Helin, a 21 year old literature student in Izmir, Turkey. I’m from Istanbul, and just returned from my erasmus, from Spain. Travelling is my passion. I love poetry, cinema, art in every form in general. I like to write as well, but I wouldn’t call myself a writer, I think.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love meeting with new people, sharing little things, having conversations, and get to know new cultures, I’ve stayed at hostels before, but being friends with people who are also traveling is one thing, I wanted to try to also get to know people who are local, it brings a whole new perspective to traveling for me :)
I also offer my house for stay, but please note that I will not be answering any messages which are not personal, or only texting me to find a place to spend the night.

As for the books: I mostly read american literature, as it is my field, but I read others as well. I prefer poetry, but I read novels too. I espacially I love to read the works of mentally ill women writers, hahshah; I’m gonna write my thesis about Sylvia Plath for sure, she’s my favorite. Other than her, I like Emily Dickinson, Albert Camus, Jane Austen, T.S. Eliot, Franz Kafka, Dostoyevski,Jack London, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway,Kurt Vonnegut
