About Me

I am a beginner traveler from Kazakhstan!

I have a rich creative and underground background. For a long time, I was deeply involved in graffiti and organized graffiti parties, becoming very familiar with Almaty’s creative and underground culture. Nowadays, I still paint, but mostly for myself, sometimes for donations or as gifts. For instance, in Turkey, I created two artworks as gifts for amazing hostels.

I’m a vegetarian and love cooking vegetarian dishes. Right now, cooking has become my creative outlet. I enjoy improvising in the kitchen and absolutely hate following recipes. In addition to cooking food, I’m passionate about preparing tea, especially Chinese tea ceremonies. At home, I have a large collection of interesting tea utensils and accessories, and for traveling, I carry a compact tea set.

Music is also an important part of my life. I enjoy going to parties with genres like reggae, dub, jungle, drum and bass, and dubstep. I absolutely love Jamaican bass! At home or on my headphones, I often listen to African, Indian, and other folk music, as well as punk and rock-inspired hip-hop. Besides listening, I also like to play instruments, purely for fun. I own a djembe, a jaw harp, and a kalimba. The jaw harp is my favorite to take on trips because it’s small and portable.

Hiking, especially in the mountains, is another passion of mine. When I’m in Almaty, I’m almost always in the mountains because the nature here is breathtaking! I love showing these places to anyone who visits. I’ve also completed the Lycian Way in Turkey as a backpacker with a tent, and now I’m planning a trip to the Himalayas. I hope it works out! 🤞

I’m almost a professional at using a balance board, which is a special board for balance training, and I can even perform various tricks on it. If the opportunity arises, I can teach you as well—it’s a lot of fun!

Sometimes I really enjoy philosophizing and talking about deep topics.

The last thing I’d like to say is that I’m all for a healthy lifestyle—I don’t drink, smoke, or use any substances.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people and exchanging knowledge. I love helping others and sharing what I can. I’m also a “poor traveler” and sometimes need a place to stay.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

left the office

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a lot about the creative, musical, and underground culture of Almaty. I can also share my experiences of hiking in Almaty’s mountains and give tips on how to complete the Lycian Way easily and affordably.

In addition, I can teach you how to play an interesting musical instrument—the jaw harp—which I almost always have with me. I can also teach you how to stand on a balance board and even perform tricks on it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share interesting knowledge about the culture of my city and my hiking experiences. I can prepare delicious vegetarian food and make tea. If I have Chinese tea utensils and tea with me, I can perform a full tea ceremony. I can also share my creativity by drawing something if you provide paint and a surface to draw on.
