My name is May. I come from a small village in Guangxi, China. I finished middle school at 15 and started working. I learned English by myself, so it’s not very good. I work in a small factory doing handcrafts, earning 10 CNY per hour (which is about 1.1 dollar). Because I don’t live in a big city, my salary is quite low. If I stop working, I have no income.

Now, I’m using my small savings to travel with my child. I believe traveling is not just about visiting tourist spots. Staying with local people is the best way to learn about their culture, traditions, and food. It’s also a way to make friends and save money. If you don’t mind my simple English and want to learn about Chinese culture, we can talk. If you’d like, I can also cook some simple Chinese dishes. Of course, I cannot accept any unreasonable requests.

My son is 5 years old. He has traveled with me to Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos. He is well-behaved, though he sometimes has small emotions bumps, but he listens to reason. We’ve hitchhiked in every country and have stayed in tents, temples, and even by the roadside. We’ve faced some difficulties but have also met many kind people who helped us.

If we travel to your city by train, bus, or hitchhiking, we would be so grateful if you could offer us a bed or a small private space to rest. We are often very tired from traveling. I promise we will keep your place clean, stay quiet, and not disturb you.
