I’m just a common man with common thoughts.
But if there’s one thing I’m truly passionate about, it’s cultural diversity.

After finishing my military service in 2023, I started approaching foreigners on the street—driven by curiosity about diversity.
That small step opened my eyes to a world I never knew existed.

I began connecting with international students at my university, listening to their stories and empathizing with their loneliness.
Eventually, I founded an international exchange club on campus and led over 250 members each semester, organizing cultural events and building a space for connection.

In 2024, I became the president of the university’s official International Student Supporting Committee, where I worked for a full year to support international students in a more structured and sustainable way.

Now that I’ve finished my last semester, I’m ready to step into their countries—to see their cultures and daily lives not just as a host or supporter, but as a guest and learner.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

As I mentioned in my “About Me,” I have a passion for cultural diversity.
People who grow up in different environments naturally have different values and ways of life.
That’s not something you can buy with money.
Real culture is found in the ordinary things on the streets.

Just a month ago, I stayed in an expensive hotel in Hawaii for two weeks during a university program.
But in those tourist areas, I couldn't feel sense of life.
So I went to a local supermarket, bought a bicycle, and started exploring poorer neighborhoods and suburban areas.

They were not well-maintained, but that’s where I could really feel the presence of real people.

That’s when I made up my mind—
I want to travel the world and meet real people just as they are, in a raw and honest way.

For someone like me, a fresh college graduate, Couchsurfing felt like a kind of guardian angel.
I’m so grateful for the chance to have real, unfiltered exchanges with local people.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

📚 Books: "Guns, Germs, and Steel"

I read Guns, Germs, and Steel in 2023, and it completely changed how I see the world.
The book argues that the gaps between civilizations are not due to intelligence or effort, but largely to environmental differences.
While volunteering abroad in the past, I realized I had unknowingly viewed people in less developed regions with a sense of pity.
This book helped me reflect on that mindset and recognize the dignity and value of every way of life.
I now see people not as more or less fortunate, but as individuals simply living in different environments with unique cultures.
It’s a book I’m truly grateful for.

🎵 Music: “Bring Me Giants” from the musical Cyrano.

I love musicals and try to see them whenever I can afford it.
One of the most touching moments I've seen recently was in Cyrano, when “Bring Me Giants” played. As a man, I felt a deep resonance with Cyrano’s pride and courage.
It reminded me of the kind of strength and dignity I want to carry in my own life.
If you’re reading this, I really hope you’ll listen to the Korean version of “Bring Me Giants.”
It’s truly powerful and beautiful.

🎬 Movies: "The Notebook"
I’ve watched The Notebook six times so far.
Some might say it's a typical or even cheesy love story, but for me, it's the only romance film that makes me feel like I’m living inside the story.
There’s something so beautiful about the imperfect youth love...
I even wrote down quotes from the movie in my notebook and use them to study English—it’s my favorite way to combine learning with feeling.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Korean Army as a drill instructor.
I enlisted in the army as a trainee to overcome the vague anxiety I had about my future career. Out of 250 soldiers in my company, I graduated with the top score and received a commendation from the division commander. Thanks to that, I earned the opportunity to serve as a drill instructor.

I received professional training in various areas such as marching, small arms, chemical warfare, and grenades, and was assigned to field duty.
There, I trained over 2,000 recruits and helped them become soldiers.

After completing my service and being discharged as a sergeant, I returned to university.
Based on what I learned in the army—communication, instruction, following manuals, and a sense of duty—I transferred my major to Safety Engineering, to be a safety manager.

My experience in the military gave me the direction and motivation to join a safety engineering lab, work on real company projects, and present my research at academic conferences.
You can even find my published paper by searching my name on Google.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Teach
I can share Korean language, culture, and food—like kimchi fried rice or BBQ—and even some military stories.

Learn
I’d love to hear about your culture, history, daily life, and local food.

Share
I enjoy meaningful talks, story exchanges, walks, cooking together, or coffee and laughter.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

I can share my stories, culture, and good passion!
I’d love to cook you a Korean meal (like kimchi fried rice, korean ramen, soysauce egg rice), teach you some Korean expressions, and learn about your daily life in return.

I’m happy to help out with small things at home, like cleaning or doing dishes.
I also enjoy meaningful conversations, sharing perspectives, and walking around your neighborhood together if you're up for it.

Most of all, I want to show you that I'm not just here for a place to sleep—I'm here to connect.
