About Me

✨ Akwaba!

Hey there! We’re Britney and Mich—a fun-loving, easygoing couple on a mission to travel to all 50 states bringing in good vibes, belly laughs, and amazing food everywhere we go. 😄
Mich and I got married in June 2023 and we love traveling and meeting new people!

I (Britney) focus on teaching people about how money works, you know what they don't teach in schools and Mich has multiple businesses including a retail shop and touring company. He is originally from Takoradi, Ghana and I'm from Riverdale, Georgia. He’s super sporty (total soccer and tennis nut ⚽️), an expert jollof rice maker, and can whip up a killer fish stew. I'm more the spontaneous adventure type—I love writing, deep convos, and baking sweet treats that make people smile.

We’re both into scavenger hunts, board games, hikes, music, and cultural swaps. Whether it’s playing games, jamming to Afrobeat or jazz, or helping clean up after dinner, we just love being involved and adding a little sunshine to someone’s day. 🌞

We believe Couchsurfing is about sharing—time, stories, energy, and skills! We're always happy to:

Cook you a delicious meal

Teach you a few words in Twi (a Ghanaian language!)

Help tidy up, organize, or deep-clean

Assist with childcare, baking, or pet care

Even house-sit if you need it!

We're respectful, warm, and grateful for every opportunity to connect. Whether we’re swapping travel tales or just hanging out over a cup of coffee or a smoothie! We’re here to make real connections—and hopefully leave your day a little brighter than we found it. 💛

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I love meeting new people, sharing cultures, and experiencing cities through the eyes of locals. For me, the best parts of travel and new places are the people you meet along the way—those unexpected conversations, shared meals, and spontaneous adventures that turn into lasting memories.

I’m excited to connect with open-minded, kind-hearted people who enjoy exchanging stories, ideas, and good energy. Whether it’s cooking together, going for a run, exploring a neighborhood, or just hanging out and chatting about life—I believe every connection has something valuable to offer.

Couchsurfing feels like the perfect community for that.

Interests

I’m someone who loves to stay active and creative! I’m really into jazz music and live concerts—there’s nothing like good music to bring people together. When I’m not singing (don’t worry, I keep it at a polite volume!), I enjoy dancing, painting, pottery, and all kinds of arts and crafts. Creative expression is a big part of who I am. I even collect dolls, which I love dressing them up! I believe that a person is never too old to play!

I also love the outdoors—hiking and kayaking are two of my favorite ways to unwind and explore. Whether it’s a trail or a river, I’m always up for a little adventure. And of course, I’m passionate about traveling. I enjoy experiencing new places and cultures, and Couchsurfing feels like a great way to do that while connecting with amazing people along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Movies
I love a good feel-good or quirky comedy! A few of my favorites are The Cobbler, Hot Chick, and Daddy Daughter Trip. I enjoy movies that make me laugh, warm the heart, or have a unique twist. I'm always up for a movie night or hearing about other people's favorites—there’s always something new to discover!

Music and Books
Jazz music has my heart—there’s just something about the rhythm and soul that I can’t get enough of. Whether it’s live performances or classic recordings, I’m always happy to dive into a good jazz session.

When it comes to books, I love a good thriller. Give me a suspenseful plot and a twist I didn’t see coming, and I’m hooked! I enjoy getting lost in a story that keeps me on the edge of my seat.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I’ve done recently was participating in the 2023 NAACP pageant in honor of domestic violence awareness. It was deeply personal for me because I lost a dear friend to domestic violence. To honor her memory, I wrote and published a song and a book that focus on self-love and healing. The book is called Tales of a Wildflower, and the song is also inspired by her story. I was truly humbled and honored to win Miss Blue and Gold that year. If you want to check out the song and book, here they are:

Mich, my amazing husband, also does incredible things. One that really touched me was when he gave food to 100 people on the streets through a local charity he’s part of. He’s also thrown parties for children in his village, sharing food and joy with them—bringing smiles and hope in so many ways.

And, of course, one of the best things Mich ever did was marry me! 😄 But seriously, he’s the kindest, most generous person I know, and together we’re always looking for ways to make the world a little better.

Teach, Learn, Share

Try your best not to burn bridges. You never know when you'll need people or they'll need you. Forgive often, love unconditionally, and you'll be alright. Oh yeah, and give and receive hugs.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer you unbelievable stories, a good laugh, and a shoulder to cry on if needed.

Mich can offer you a soccer game partner, amazing African cuisine and some thoughtful advice when you need it.

We are always willing to help out with any chores or anything you need (as long as it's legal and doesn't involve swinging of any kind, we aren't into that 😅)
