Overview
About Me
Hello ! I am studying English Literature at Oxford Univeristy currently, so obvs am Mad about all things books (you would hope). But having been born to two creative parents I was cultivated to love all the arts. I love painting and drawing and photography, I am in a band as the singer but also love playing the piano. (But mi amigo in the band is far better than me). I adore theatre and acting, that is a hope and dream of mine to maybe one day peruse. Continuing this theme of splurging out things I love aha ! I love film, I love cooking and eating exotic cultural food. Indeed Travel seems to be a combination of all of my loves. As I was born in the countryside in England I love spending time outdoors walking and adventuring. Thus to travel is to experience a new landscape of the earth with new customs and expressions of life, from the arts to the food to the language. So I am now travelling for a couple months, around Colombia and Peru, Couchsurfing…hitchhiking and truly spreading my wings, opening my eyes, following my nose and peeling back my ears listening to a new part of the world. Besides all this I am rather young so don’t have as much as others in the stories so far, but am trying to carve as much as I can when I can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m on couch surfing to really understand where I am travelling to ! I want to get in to the veins of the place, the true culture which I Believe starts with the people ! The people are the city, the noise, the energy ! So why hop around hostels with other foreigners when one could dive deep into the real city by sharing and communicating with its kind best residents. I also believe that people who are interested, curious and generous enough to be on Couchsurfing are usually the best demonstration of the soul of a place !

Music, Movies, and Books
Music! = (I hope I don’t have a word count) I love everything from classical and opera to jazz and rock and psychedelic hip hop) I love piano concertos, I love Pavarotti and the three tenors, I love ‘La Traviata’ and ‘ this is a man’s world’ Pavarotti and James brown Live Duet….tis epic. I love Ray and Jazz quartets especially live in Londons basement 606 jazz club…but am yet to visit ronnie Scot’s ! My favourite bands are Dire straits, Queen, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones and Coldplay ! Obviously there is so much more I love but don’t want to bore you….but on the topic of music I’m an avid fan of Jacob Collier ( live audience conducting), a promoter of Full Almbum listens to fight against the Fast fashion of music listening and impatient skipping of songs….respect the full body of work as a piece of art !!! We must save live music venues and not let big corporations take over the music scene( I love Tiny desk concerts…sooo cool, also Desert island discs) . ( I love Mac Demarco, Bon iver and Fleetwood Mac ! ) just thought I would pop that in ! )
Movies ! I love All kinds of movies. But for the sake of this task let’s pretend I’m a famous actor on a red carpet at some glitzy art deco film premiere and am approached by letter Box ? ‘ 5 favourite films sir !?’ It would have to be in no particular order 1. ‘waves’- beautiful A24 film with insane cinematography and colour palette, like an intense modern Shakespeare drama, incredible Frank Ocean collaborated Sound track..,made by one of the best production companies ever ? 2. Life is beautiful, the low budget glorious Italian film which one best director and best foreign film at the Oscar’s ! Directed and stared in by the glorious Robertto !In the In the face of one of the last centuries greatest tragedies, the power of happiness hope and joy and the glorious beauty of children’s imagination.
3.Ruby sparks…just watch it, it’s charming, beautiful and though provoking. An awesome concept of one falling in love with a fictional character sprouted from his own imagination.
4.Withnail and I: the peak of British humour/ mockery at the hardship of being a young actor. The charm and wit of Richard.E.Grant is so overwhelming he instantly became a hero of mine and of the entire nations.
5.the intouchables: another demonstration of the power of joy in the face of a grave hopeless situation. It invigorates me this film and inspires me to be a collaborator with JOY!
I can’t pin down my book taste at the moment because I am tackling Tolstoys ‘war and peace’ currently and that has become my whole world. It’s not really a novel, it’s life in a novel. A wonderful commentary on the novel says ‘if life could write, it would write like Tolstoy’. Nevertheless my favourite author is Ben Lerner, with his magnificent book ‘Leaving the atotcha station’ about a fraudulent poet in Madrid on a prestigious fellowship. It’s so fantastically clever and funny and dynamic that I want to read it every year for the rest of my life ! I will never stop reading it’s the way to understand humans and life better is it not ? It is the essential Ingredient to human growth, thus I encourage all to read variously and thoroughly as possible.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lead role in ‘The Adam’s family’ musical !
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach piano and painting and maybe some poetry writing and maybe some dodgy English cooking !! I am so eager to learn absolutely everything I can get my hands on, weather that be bits of a language, juggling or local cuisine. I love sharing stories and ideas and most importantly wonderful experiences.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my stories and my experiences, my take on my culture and all the cultures around the world I have been lucky enough to visit. I can share passion in all areas and aspects of life. I am very helpful I like to think, so can share my skills in the kitchen and any other domestic duties which need attending !
