About Me
İnstagram: @kursad__polat , @uzm.pd.kursadpolat
Hi! I’m Kürşad from Turkey and a professional Psychological Counselor working at a secondary school under the Ministry of Education in Turkey. I also provide individual psychotherapy sessions outside of school.
I love meeting new people, exploring different cultures, and exchanging ideas and life stories. For me, learning and teaching are not just hobbies they are my way of living.
I’m passionate about chess, camping, fishing, riding my motorcycle, and spending time in nature. A while ago, I started traveling across countries on my motorcycle. Unfortunately, on my third route, I had an accident in Albania and broke my hand. Because of that, I’ve taken a little break from long motorcycle trips, but I still try to travel by plane or car whenever I can.
If you ever find yourself in Turkey, I live in Tekirdağ, and I’d be truly happy and honored to host you in my home. I really enjoy meeting travelers from different backgrounds and sharing good talks, good food, and good energy.
I’m a clean, respectful, and open-minded person. I truly value personal space, cultural differences, and individual lifestyles. If one day I’m your guest, don’t worry I’ll never disturb you. I’ll just bring positive vibes, meaningful conversations, and maybe some Turkish coffee to share. ☕
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe travel is not just about places — it’s about people. I’m here because I want to connect with locals, listen to real stories, and share meaningful moments along the way. Couchsurfing feels like the opposite of being a tourist — it’s human, spontaneous, and full of surprises.
I’m traveling solo on my motorcycle across the Balkans, and I love learning from others while also offering something in return — whether it’s good conversation, a game of chess, or a simple shared meal.
For me, Couchsurfing is about trust, kindness, and the kind of memories that don’t fit into a postcard.
Interests
I’m passionate about motorcycles, camping, and the open road — nothing beats the feeling of waking up in a new place. I enjoy chess, both as a game and a way to connect with others. I also love technology, exploring new gadgets, and learning how things work.
I’m into psychology, meaningful conversations, and stories that make me see the world differently. I enjoy a good boxing match, local food, and spontaneous travel plans that turn into unforgettable memories.
And of course — strong coffee, quiet mornings, and kind people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like reading academic books. I often read articles and research about my job. I try to read something every day because reading helps me learn new things.
I really enjoy watching movies. My favorite types are science fiction, psychological, and action movies. I think a good movie can teach us many things.
Music is a big part of my life. I started to play the bağlama (a Turkish instrument) when I was 7 years old. Now I can also play guitar and piano. I listen to all kinds of music, but traditional Turkish music is very special for me.
Maybe one day we can meet, and I can play some Turkish music for you 🎶
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
“Rode my motorcycle across three countries in Europe.”
“Slept under the stars in the middle of the desert.”
“Quit my job for a few months to explore South America.”
“Learned how to free dive even though I was afraid of water.”
Teach, Learn, Share
🧠 Teach: As a school counselor, I love sharing ideas about psychology, emotional awareness, and human behavior. I can also teach you some basic chess strategy, how to make strong Turkish coffee over a campfire, or even a few useful Turkish phrases.
🎓 Learn: I’m always curious about how people live, think, and find meaning. I’d love to learn about your language, your culture, or even a recipe that means something to you. Also, I’m eager to improve my English and pick up bits of other local languages.
🤝 Share: I can share stories from the road, homemade coffee, and good conversations. I travel with an open heart and believe that meaningful moments are created through simple things — like sharing a walk, a meal, or a deep talk.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I travel with a small backpack, a big heart, and a Turkish coffee pot. I can share stories from the road, interesting conversations, and maybe even teach you a bit of Turkish or how to play chess.
If you enjoy strong coffee, I’d love to make you a cup the traditional way — over a flame, just like we do it while camping. I’m also happy to help with small things around the house or cook something simple from my culture.
I respect personal space, clean up after myself, and do my best to leave good memories behind. For me, the best part of traveling is meeting kind people and giving kindness in return.
