Hi I'm Bo kyung

I was born in Busan (Beautiful beach city)
now living in Seoul

I used to work as an ICU nurse for three years.

If you’re wondering why I started this journey, it’s because I felt something inside me slowly fading.

I began my career with love and a strong sense of purpose. Taking care of critically ill patients taught me about responsibility, sacrifice, and the fragility of life. For a long time, I believed that achieving good results at work was what made me happy.

But somewhere along the way, my work became just a way to earn money. I noticed that I was becoming emotionally numb to life and death — something that once felt deeply meaningful to me. That realization was uncomfortable, even scary.

So I chose to step away from the stability and familiarity of my life in June 2025. I picked up a backpack and a camera to follow a childhood dream I had been too afraid to pursue: traveling the world.

This journey is my way of reconnecting with myself — to feel deeply again, to see life from different perspectives, and to meet people whose stories might remind me why I once chose to care for others.

Maybe our paths crossing is also part of that journey.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Isn’t it amazing to become friends with someone beyond differences in nationality, culture, and language without any business interests involved, like between a boss and a employee?
That is another one of my bucket list dreams.

Rather than understanding a country through sensational or exaggerated stories on Instagram, YouTube, or the news, I wanted to meet locals in person to talk, to listen to their stories about life, and to understand the country through real human connection.

One thing I’ve realized while traveling is that no matter the culture, people everywhere ultimately pursue the same things: family, health, and happiness.

Among many possible conversations, there’s one question I especially love to ask:
“What has been making you feel happy these days?”
"What is important thing in your life?"

If I only visited as a tourist, I might never have the chance to ask something like that. That’s why I choose Couchsurfing.
