关于我

**Kaptza** is a 5-member band that primarily plays Hungarian folk music while blending it with other genres. The members have individually pursued classical and folk music studies both in Hungary and Upper Hungary (Felvidék). Since childhood, they have been part of the *táncház* (dance house) movement, and alongside continuous professional training and years spent in music schools, they learned the practical aspects of folk music by playing at dance houses, accompanying dance ensembles, and performing at independent concerts.

One part of the band was active for years in Sopron as *Soproni Kisbanda* (Sopron Little Band) and later as *Figurás Band*, while the other part played in Somorja as *Csali Zenekar*. The two groups first met as children at the *Rév Zenekar* folk music camp and have been making music together ever since.

Over time, they became regular participants in the musical workshops organized by *Mediawave*, led by *Miquèu Montanaro*, where they explored the intricate world of world music compositions and began delving deeper into improvisation. Later, they joined the masterclasses held by *Ferenczi György* and the *1-ső Pesti Rackák*, absorbing everything there is to know about orchestration, poetic adaptations, and musical humility.

The fruit of this collaboration was a study trip to the U.S. in 2022, where they spent nine months at *East Tennessee State University*, researching the connections between American and Hungarian folk music, learning from leading figures in the field, and finally crowning their journey with a recording session in Nashville. The recorded material was refined and arranged with the help of *Beáta Salamon*, a *Prima Primissima Award*-winning violinist.

Since then, the band has been performing, reworking, and developing this musical material while continuing to create new songs with the same passion, exploring new musical paths. Much of their music draws from the folk traditions of Hungary, Transylvania, and Upper Hungary, but they also frequently borrow harmonies, rhythmic patterns, and melodic solutions from bluegrass, blues, jazz, reggae, and hip-hop. Each member’s unique style shines through in their arrangements.

**Band members:**
- **Levente Fajkusz** – vocals, violin
- **Domonkos Fajkusz** – vocals, double bass, koboz (lute)
- **Ádám Kőhalmy** – cimbalom
- **Márton Lelkes** – accordion
- **Mátyás Nyárfás** – viola

Hi dear people!

We’d like to ask for your help again!
No, it’s not about begging – the album money is covered, we managed to raise it, and chances are we’ll record the material in November. BUT!
Until then, lots of things will be happening with the band – including a two-week EUROPEAN TOUR! 🤙🤙

With the Flock Project, we’ll be visiting Correns in France and Alcorcón in Spain this October, which is going to be amazing – but we won’t stop there.
We’ve decided to turn this into a street music road trip, and that’s where we’d love to ask for your help! 🤲

The first leg of the trip, October 12–15, would look like this:
Budapest – Ljubljana – Trieste – Milan – Nice – Correns.

The second leg, October 18–22:
Correns – Barcelona – Valencia – Alcorcón.

And on the way back, the third leg, October 26–30:
Alcorcón – Bilbao/San Sebastian – Brive-la-Gaillarde – Geneva – Innsbruck/Munich – Budapest.

Roughly, this is the route we’d like to take in about this timeframe, but we’ll need a place to crash in (or near) these cities.

Dear friends, if you know about Hungarian communities abroad, people living there who could host us, a couple of spare beds, cheap camping spots or even just a comfy patch of grass, please don’t keep it to yourselves – write to us, we’d be super grateful! 🫶
(And if there’s a club or pub where we could play, that would be awesome too!)

In exchange for the housing, we can play some tasty hungarian music for any amount of time.

We’re moderately undemanding in this regard – most likely we’ll be sleeping in the car sometimes, but maybe we can snag a couch or two along the way, right? 🤞

Thanks a lot in advance for your help and support – keep it real, people! ✌️
