Overview
About Me
Hi! I’m Wan from China. I live in Madrid now and I’m doing a master’s degree at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
I don’t have any religion, but I really enjoy learning about different cultures and traditions. This year I have a plan to walk part of the Camino de Santiago during the Christmas holidays. Around Christmas Eve / Christmas Day I would love to experience a “real” European family Christmas – for me it’s like your version of Chinese Spring Festival. It’s one of my small life dreams.
My Spanish and English are not perfect, but I can communicate and I really like talking with people. I’m usually a bit shy at the beginning, but I’m a very optimistic, kind and positive person.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing because I’m a student with a small budget but a big curiosity. I want to meet local people, see normal daily life and share cultures.
This year I plan to walk part of the Camino de Santiago during Christmas. Around Christmas Eve or Christmas Day I would love to stay with a local person or family and feel the real Christmas atmosphere at home, like we feel during Spring Festival in China. Even if it’s simple, that experience would mean a lot to me.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I mostly listen to Chinese music, plus some popular English songs and some easy Spanish songs.
Movies: I watch all kinds of movies – old and new, from different countries. I don’t have a very “serious” taste, I just enjoy good stories.
Books: I like science fiction and books about technology and the future.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Maybe I haven’t done something super amazing yet, but for me the bravest thing I’ve done is moving alone from China to Madrid and starting an independent life here. I take care of myself, study, handle all the papers and problems, and I’m still smiling.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach some simple Chinese, write your name in Chinese characters and share things about daily life in China.
Learn: I want to improve my Spanish and English, and understand how people really live and think in Europe, not only as a tourist.
Share: I’m a very positive and friendly person, so I’m happy to share good energy, conversations, simple Chinese food and stories about studying and living abroad.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook some very simple Chinese dishes, help with cleaning or groceries, and of course share stories about China and about being a student in Spain.
I’m independent and respectful with house rules. I don’t smoke and I don’t need any luxury, just a safe and friendly place.
In the future, if you ever visit China, I would be very happy to show you around and be your “local friend” there.
