About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Josua, I am 18 years old and graduated from high school in the spring of 2025. With the start of my gap year, many opportunities opened up for me and I have already got a three-month trip through Europe, where I met many wonderful people, experienced a lot of hospitality and had many other great travel experiences in beautiful landscapes. Now I am preparing for a three-month trip to New Zealand and Australia starting in January; am really excited to make lots of new friends and have unexpected positive encounters! Since I’ve already gained some travel experience – and can't imagine anything better than traveling right now – I am very open-minded, curious, and always ready to help wherever I can. I also love good conversations, which is why I would always be happy to do something together, whether it's cooking, hiking, or whatever. The best tips always come from talking with locals or other travelers. That's why I'm also happy to make contacts even if it doesn't work out with an accommodation. I look forward to getting to know you. Until then, greetings and stay motivated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have had so many enriching experiences where people have simply shown generous hospitality and shared something of their lives, their history, and their culture with me. I believe that such exchanges can be greatly enriching for everyone and that we need more cosmopolitanism – I love that word – and international relations :). Wherever I open my front door, hearts and ears open too. That is impressive and that's why I want to be part of it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m interested in almost everything, but especially in classical literature both about music and books. I love classical composers, especially of the epoch of romantic, like Schuhmann, Chopin, Dvorak, etc.. When it comes to books, I can recommend everything from Goethe to Heine and from Morgenstern to Hesse. I am also (almost) always enthusiastic about philosophers and psychologists. I also enjoy watching classic films, anything that either has good humor, shows something particularly beautiful, or simply impresses with its quality as a drama or feature film. I am open-minded! The only thing I don't really enjoy are thrillers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Paragliding in Tenerife. Plus diving in the Arctic Ocean without a dry suit, but with an incredible abundance of marine life and plants. The seabed at a depth of 6-8 meters was covered in pink colors from the sand made up of small pieces of shell, and giant crabs moved around together with much smaller ones in a hectic big-city dynamic. It was simply amazing!
Then there was a hike in a rainforest in the Rocky Mountains, part of the Fisherman's Trail in Portugal, and the Path of the Gods on the Amalfi Coast.
And I once danced tango with a girl in Lisbon on the cobblestones of the old town at midnight, even though we hardly knew each other!

Teach, Learn, Share

Always good to be tolerant and open-minded and to enrich other people with your respectful opinions and your experiences.
