About Me

"After finishing university and 2 years in the military, I'm finally starting my first big adventure around the world."

Hey! I'm Yongbin from South Korea. I'm a total beginner about travel, but I just decided to take a year off starting March 2026 to travel the world. I've never been outside of Asia before, so this whole thing is pretty new to me. Just joined Couchsurfing a few days ago!

The plan is pretty flexible, but I'm thinking Europe first, then North America → South America → Africa → Asia. We'll see how it goes!

I'm friendly and outgoing, love meeting new people and talking about different cultures. My English is good enough to have real conversations, not perfect but we can definitely communicate well. I've been learning Spanish for 6 months too, though I'm still pretty much a beginner haha.

Honestly, I got obsessed with Spain after watching "La Casa de Papel". I loved that series so much! Then I found out the Royal Mint building from the show was actually just a set and I was so shocked lol.

Planning to spend the whole month of March there, just taking it slow, exploring different places, and practicing my Spanish.

I'm thinking about making YouTube videos during my trip. If you're cool with being on camera, maybe we can film something together! But no pressure at all, just thought it could be fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always loved traveling, but this trip is really about finding myself through different experiences. I want to see how people actually live in different parts of the world, not just visit tourist spots and move on.

Meeting locals and learning about your daily life, your culture, your perspective - that's what I'm looking for. I want to make real connections with people from all over the world and bring those experiences and friendships back home with me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm into pop and hip-hop, but honestly I just like discovering new music. Sometimes I go to LP bars and listen to random jazz records I've never heard before - that's always fun. I'm not super deep into any specific genre, just open to whatever sounds good. Always happy to hear your recommendations!

Movies: Love musical films like La La Land, A Star is Born, The Greatest Showman. There's something special about movies with great music.

Books: Not gonna lie, I don't read that much lol

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While I was in university, I started an online marketing business with literally no money to start with. I worked with hospitals and clinics, found all my clients through my own marketing. Had to close it down for this trip, but building something from zero and actually making money from it was a really valuable experience.

Also, in Korea all guys have to do military service (unless you have a physical disability). I was in for almost 2 years. So even though Korea has strict gun control, I'm actually pretty good at shooting haha

Teach, Learn, Share

I think a lot of people have the wrong idea about Korea, probably because of what they see in media. I'd love to tell you about what Korea is actually like, and I really want to learn about your culture too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can introduce Korean culture and everyday life in Korea.
Please tell me about your culture and how you live — I truly enjoy exchanging stories and perspectives.
