About Me

✨ Hey, I’m the mama of the Kangaroo Family - Jana ✨

We’re a colorful adoptive and foster family with big hearts, a bit of chaos, and a whole lot of love. 🦘
After two years of traveling in our self-built school bus, we dropped our anchor in Greece about a year and a half ago — and this is where we plan to stay. The kids go to school here, we’re slowly building our home, and we’re dreaming of buying a piece of land to create a little creative fairytale world for wonderful people from all over the globe.

Our everyday life is… let’s say lively. 😄
Our family currently includes seven dogs and three cats, so there’s always laughter, movement, and the sound of paws somewhere.

I love meeting open-hearted people, sharing honest conversations, cooking and eating together, exchanging stories, and that magical moment when strangers start to feel like friends. Our door (and our bus) are open for warmth, creativity, and a little bit of kangaroo magic.

If you’re curious about an unusual family, real connection, and heartfelt encounters, we’d love to meet you. 💛

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m new to Couchsurfing, and honestly, it feels like a little adventure for me.

Traveling, for me, isn’t just about seeing places — it’s about real human connection. I never travel alone; I travel with my kids — my oldest is 18 and the twins are 13 — because I want them to experience the world through people, not just through screens or guidebooks.

Couchsurfing is a conscious challenge for me. This closeness and mutual trust require courage. But I believe growth rarely happens inside the comfort zone — and that the most beautiful encounters are waiting just outside of it. That’s the courage I want to model for my children.

I want to show them how valuable openness, trust, and genuine connection are. That strangers can become friends. That the world is full of stories if you’re willing to listen.

For us, Couchsurfing is learning directly from life: shared meals, late-night conversations, cultural exchange, and that special feeling of being welcomed. We’re just at the beginning of this journey — and that’s exactly what makes it exciting.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don’t really have single favorite titles — I’m drawn to anything that creates emotion.

Music, for me, has to move something inside. It can be deep and intense or light and joyful. Artists like Asaf Avidan or classics like ABBA reflect my range quite well — what matters most is the feeling it creates.

I feel the same about books and films. I love stories that enrich me, make me think, or simply touch the heart. I enjoy laughing just as much as I appreciate movies or books that bring tears and stay with me long after.

For me, it’s never about genre — it’s about the emotion that remains.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing choices of my life was stepping into the path of becoming an adoptive and foster family — and everything that grew from it.

Together with my children, I chose an unconventional life. We built a home in a school bus and set off traveling. We started with one dog and one cat… and along the way our family kept growing. Today we live with seven adopted dogs and three cats. Sometimes I wonder how we manage it — and at the same time it feels completely right.

Equally amazing to me is that my husband and I found each other and genuinely love walking this unusual path side by side. Moving through adventure, chaos, and growth as a team is one of the greatest gifts of my life.

This journey has taught us courage, flexibility, and trust in life. Watching my children grow through real experiences, encounters, and responsibility feels like the greatest adventure of all. It’s not a single moment, but an evolving story we continue to write every day.

And maybe that’s the most amazing part: we’re right in the middle of it, reinventing our life as we go.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share stories about traveling as a family, building an unconventional life, and learning to trust my own path. I’m also happy to share my experiences as a foster and adoptive mom — about growth, patience, love, and the many ways a family can exist. I enjoy exchanging thoughts about spirituality, personal growth, and the courage it takes to follow what feels true.

I’d love to learn from other people’s cultures, their daily rituals, creative ways of living, and different perspectives on life. I learn best through real connection — cooking together, sharing stories, or simply observing how others shape their everyday world.

What I truly share is openness, curiosity, and space for honest human connection.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I bring openness, gratitude, and genuine interest in the people who host me. I respect my hosts’ space and daily rhythm, I’m happy to help around the house, and I try to be attentive to what’s needed.

I share good conversation, humor, and a calm, warm presence — and, if welcome, insights into our unusual family life and my experiences as a foster and adoptive mom. And if there are animals in the home, I’m instantly happy and glad to help care for them.

For me, it’s important not just to be a guest, but to create a connection based on mutual respect.
