Hey :) I‘m Mara, 19 years old and currently travelling Southeast Asia with my friend Ellen. 🌍

I’m someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people. Not just the quick “where are you from” kind of talk, but real conversations, shared laughs, different perspectives — the kind of moments that stick with you longer than any sightseeing spot.

I like being on the move, trying new things, staying active… but I’m just as happy sitting somewhere with good company, talking about life or doing something completely unplanned (which, in my experience, is where the magic happens anyway).
Fair warning though: I have a serious soft spot for animals. If there’s one around, I’ll probably be busy making a new friend before anything else!! :)

And yes… I LOVE food. Trying local dishes has become a major part of the journey. I also really enjoy cooking (and I’m quite confident about my skills), so if you’re up for it, I’d love to spend some time in the kitchen together and see what we can come up with.👩‍🍳

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

For me, Couchsurfing is a chance to see the world through someone else’s eyes. Meeting people with different backgrounds gives you perspectives you’d never find on your own — and often that turns into connections that actually stick.

I like experiencing a place WITH people, not just passing through it. It just feels more real, more spontaneous, and honestly more fun than just hopping between hostels.

Honestly, I just really like the idea behind it — people opening their doors, sharing stories, time, and a bit of everyday life. Plus, I feel like people on here are usually looking for the same kind of experience… which makes them pretty great to meet in the first place.

I’m pretty open when it comes to music, movies, and books — but I definitely have a thing for thrillers, especially psychological ones. The kind that pulls you in and doesn’t let go that easily.

My music taste really depends on the vibe. Cooking with some good jazz just feels right👩‍🍳
But when it’s time for sports for example, I need something with enough bass and energy to convince me this was a good idea in the first place.
