Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love hosting: whether for dinner, a party, or overnight. When I lived in South Bend I would host almost every weekend.

I also love to travel. My favorite way to travel is to visit friends and meet new friends. I've couchsurfed in Colorado, Ohio, Atlanta, Boston, Louisville, Chicago, California, New Orleans, Miami, New York City, Bruxelles, Dublin, London, Paris, Berlin, Roma, and Garmisch.

Interests

When I'm not working, I read newspapers, magazines, novels, poetry.

I like biking both on long country roads and city streets.

I love being outside, especially hiking, camping, fishing, surfing, and gardening.

I like to cook and bake; a few years ago I opened a cafe where I bake cookies and muffins and make soups and salads.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon: at the rim there was one foot of fresh snow. As we climbed down, the temperature got warmer, until we reached about 3,000', when we climbed below the snow line and under the clouds. Suddenly the whole canyon, which had been obscured by clouds, opened up in front of us. The canyon walls were more beautiful than ever with snow and muted light. We camped at the bottom; the clouds cleared in the evening and we watched a full moon rise over the canyon rim and illuminate the walls around us made of rock billions of years old.

I like to cook, read, bike, and walk. I don't smoke.
