ABOUT ME

A life joy-rider who likes to pilot on occasion. An adventurer, metaphysician, renaissance hopeful.

Things I like... Bricks, wood and plaster. Black tea & French toast. Working in the garage on a warm day with the doors open. Camping out on the roof. Riding 1000 miles in a day and doing it again the next.

Asking questions. Comparing notes. Being understood.

PHILOSOPHY

In my college days I was literally student of classical metaphysics. I have generally maintained an ethos that corresponds with the Aristotelian ethics of action, and try my best to do well in order to be well.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted a handful of times, and now recently been hosted a few times.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There's a surprising amount of skepticism about couchsurfing among those I try to explain it to who haven't heard of it. It seems a very natural thing to pair with real traveling. A nice hotel is great, but never worth the cost and missing out on better company.

I've stayed on many fellow riders' couches that I've met through other avenues, bringing along the CS spirit.

I went on a ride to the West coast with my partner a few months after we'd met. Louisville to San Diego to Oregon and back; it was a blast.

I design, build and repair my way through my work life as well as personal life. I respect self-sufficiency greatly; not as an endless array of abilities, but the desire to make any endeavor into an adventure, embrace the unknown.
