CURRENT MISSION

To be gainfully unemployed for 8 months of the year, travel at will, challenge mainstream America, and laugh as much as possible while meeting new people and seeing new places.

ABOUT ME

I LOVE music, both kinds: country and western. But it's not what you think... I play bluegrass, old-timey, old, classic country, and honky tonk all the time on the radio as well on my upright bass. None of this new, commercial, cheesy radio pop country. I also enjoy skiing (cross-country touring and telemarking), hiking, rock climbing, and cycling. Reading and crossword puzzles. Watching birds outside my cabin on a winter morning with a cup of tea. Getting together with my friends for breakfast and leaving after dinner. Potlucks. Hot tubs or a sauna at -20 F. I love being from Alaska....it really is different from the rest of this country. I also really like beer. In a new place you'll often find me in a music shop, independent bookstore, thrift store, public library, natural food market, or coffee shop.

I'm new to this, so we'll see what happens, but I've been a recreational couch surfer for many years...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I despise paying for a place to sleep, so I've done a ton of couchsurfing. I'm very easygoing and like to repay kindness with kindness (mostly in the form of food and drink) I don't need to be entertained, but appreciate local knowlege.
