Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

Work to travel. Pennypinch to take a once-in-a-lifetime voyage every year..because you never know how long you have left.

ABOUT ME

Sacrasm is my favorite form of humor. I love wit and wordplay.

I absolutely hate it when the tines of a fork aren't straight- when one is out of whack... I can handle a lot of things, but that really drives me insane!!! Other than that I'm really easy going (unless I'm hungry).

I don't know how many times I've left things in the oven WAY too long and almost burned the place down!

Big time Foodie! I'm pretty sure there is something addictive in sushi, because I can't get enough of it. I like cooking, but would much rather cook with friends than go out to eat.

I snowboard, hike and love camping. I used to work as a naturalist so that's why I love plants, animals and geology.

I graduated from Temple University as an Anthropologist.

PHILOSOPHY

No matter how old you feel, you are younger NOW than you will be.

Less is more as long as the less IS more.

"Sex, wine and the baths may ruin our bodies, but they make life worth living." —Ancient Roman gravestone

Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

Be very afraid of regret.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting, Surfing, Advising... mostly hosting but hopefully more surfing as soon as possible...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met the love of my life through CS.

But before that...I stayed with someone in Lima, Peru (though I met them through Hospitality Club) in fall of 2005.

Whenever I go back to France I stay with my host family from when I was in the Rotary Exchange, they are like family.

My boyfriend (at the time, long long ago) and I stayed with 2 Dutch women in their flat while attending summerschool in Leeuwarden.

I stayed with CSers in Cairo and many places in Jordan and travelled with one special CSer to Syria.

I'd rather stay with friends (new or old) any day than a boring, lonely hotel room. The worst day with friends is still better than the best day in a hotel.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I love to cook, but I'm not so good at baking. I love to learn other foods but my memory is terrible. So If you teach me something, remind me to write it down (because I won't even remember to do that).

I knit pretty well. I can teach you- but I want to learn how to crochet, so if you know how and are willing to teach write 'crochet' in the subject line of your request and I'll know you read this.

I'm also learning how to play the violin, so am looking for any help there.

In general, I like to do arts and craftsy type stuff. Like decorating the house and such...

I volunteered for years on Philadelphia's only Tall Ship "Gazela" (www.gazela.org) which teaches all sorts of interresting skills- from woodworking to knots to sea shanties. I can teach you how to tie some awesome knots.

I am always looking to improve my language skills and enjoy exposure to new languages. Currently of course, I'm working on my arabic.
