About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Spending the summer working on some doc projects!
ABOUT ME
I am from a small town in the Northeast United States, but I currently live mostly in New York City. There, I have spent a good deal of my time working in film and photography, two of my great passions, and enjoying how full of art and activity the city is. But when I can, I like to go out and explore outside the city on my bike, or head north to the country and take in some greenery to sate my country self. Since moving to the city, I have had more guests than I ever had on my couch in any small town I've lived in!
I've travelled quite a bit, and know a few things about being a guest. I am a vegetarian, but try not to let that be a difficult thing when I am a guest. I like to cook, and know how to wash up afterwards!
One of my favorite things being anywhere is spending time with other folks, whether it is meaning new friends or connecting with old.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am out on the road for the summer, looking for a couch, and hope to be hosting later in the year.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My experience is less through CS, but I have both hosted and been a guest on many a couch.
Interests
My greatest interest lies in documentary. I shoot photos, I have worked in research and in editing, and I love the process of learning and understanding from making documentary projects. I have been doing strictly documentary photography for years, but have been stretching out to shoot more landscapes and portraiture, using new formats and cameras, which has been a whole new way to look at and understand what I am seeing and how I am photographing. In my free time, I love to bike, swim and visit with friends. I do a lot on my own, but I adore my friends and make sure I find time to spend with them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few years ago, I travelled with a good friend to Nova Scotia, and saw the Bay of Fundy, and the Five Islands. We camped out on a cliff above the bay - and it was an incredibly beautiful place, and a striking thing to see the water rise and dissipate around the islands below us.
For a friend's birthday a few years ago, we hiked a mountain, went dancing, and topped the evening off with a dip in the ocean. There was no moon that night, but there was phosphorescence in the water - which was gorgeous and a magical end to an amazing day.
Teach, Learn, Share
What I do, visual story telling, is mostly about teaching and learning. And I have tried to think of my work both as a way for me to teach, but also as a way to learn. I have taught photo, I love exploring and explaining cities, and am interested in many, many things.
