None yet involving couch surfing, but I've done two trips to CHina with Pacific Village Institute, and have done a fair share of homestays

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

5 midgets covered in thousand island dressing... Not really.
My life highlight though.... Was hiking 16 miles of the great wall (Not tourist area) amidst fog and thunder storms
