About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

I just returned to CS after a long break. Finishing up my Ph.D. in chemistry, and working part time as a figure model. I don't like falling into routines. I love things that keep me active (cycling, rock climbing, yoga, etc.). I have a loving boyfriend and a monstrous black cat named Kompressor. They are both amazing.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to end up doing something with my life that pushes my mental/emotional/physcial abilities, something that makes sure I'm always active. It's what makes me happiest.

Every person you come into contact with is a mirror into your own life. Each will teach you something about yourself, if you pay attention

Also, people are capable of literally anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting and traveling! I haven't had a chance to host or travel much during grad school, but I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. Basically any time I have to go somewhere for work I try to meet up with a local to really get a feel for the place. And since I don't get to travel much, hosting is a great way to have new experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's been great so far. Stayed with an awesome girl in Italy for three days. got to go to lots of Italian birthday parties. It was the perfect way to have a unique experience in a limited amount of time. Also got to have a great homemade dinner with a group of close friends in Brazil . They gave us a bottle of cachaça as a gift. so nice.

Interests

science, bikes!, exploring cities on foot, swimming, playing piano, mazes, finding out-of-place objects in plain sight, Halloween, hidden places in cities or towns.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Grand Budapest Hotel, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Blindness, Amelie, The Royal Tenenbaums, Twelve Angry Men, Little Miss Sunshine, Zoolander

Music: St. Vincent, Andrew Bird, all Mark Ronson productions, Hosier, Scissor Sisters, Sufjan Stevens, Metric, Le Tigre, Peaches, Miike Snow, etc.

Books: It's been so long since I've read for fun... Winter's Tale maybe?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once watched every James Bond movie back-to-back. It took over two days.

I took van-loads fulll of dogs halfway across America so that they weren't killed in local animal shelters. They all get adopted. Win!

I seem to have the ability to find old friends anywhere in large cities.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach/share: science and math tutoring, bike repair, stories, some piano music if I've been practicing, how to swim, pancakes!

Want to learn: Better Italian, better sewing skills, drawing and painting, sculpture, screen printing, fabric dyeing, pretty much all things art. Oh, and inversion yoga poses

What I Can Share with Hosts

My schedule ebbs and flows, so sometimes it might just be that I can offer you a couch to crash during your visit. Other times I might be able to wader around the city with you. It just depends.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Italy, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom, United States
