About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel as much as possible while on sabattical

ABOUT ME

Well we are a 40-something couple in Southern California that love to travel, cook, and entertain. I left my job in May with plans to take of a year or more and so far, we have been to Peru, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar, as well as various ski trips in the US. We head out early April for three plus months in India (only a vague itinerary so far - starting in Rajasthan). When we get back, we should be able to host guests.

PHILOSOPHY

The more we see of the world, the more we realize how lucky we are to have all we have and how unimportant many of our "issues" are (of course this feeling is always most prevalent when first returning from a trip and tends to fade as the rigors of work life invade...)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well at this point, I just found out about couch surfing and my wife and I are about to head out on a three and a half month trip to India (possibly Nepal/Bhutan) so I guess initially, we will be on the receiving side of things. Once home (July 2007) we will be more than happy to have company!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Out of college, I went traveling for 18 months, mostly in Asia where I met many other travelers from Europe. At the end of that trip, I managed to spend several months traveling around Europe, never once staying in a hotel. The hospitality of those friends (and often friends of their's who put me up) was fantastic and remains with me to this day.

Too many to list! Love movies and read/listen to lots of audio books. As far as music, just about anything but rap or country

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We have been lucky to travel internationally quite a bit and have seen many amazing things. Some of the more recent:

- Our muddy 12 hour truck journey to Northern Laos
- Three weeks in Myanmar with a fantastic guide
- Bicycling around the ruins at Angkor
- A five day trek to Machu Picchu
- Wandering the ruins at Aphrodisias Turkey

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I will have to think about that one.
Learn - a new language!
