About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live simply, completely, and unselfishly.
ABOUT ME
I am Steven. I love my wife of 33 years very much. Together, we have four amazing children, ages 20-29.
I have had the immense privilege of traveling to many parts of the world. Experiencing other cultures is very important to me.
I may be an "older-than-average" couch surfer. I'm NOT trying to young, hip, or whatever the term is for whatever you might think I am trying to be. I'm not that. I just think this is an interesting way to communicate. I wanted you to know that.
PHILOSOPHY
I am not interested in gathering a lot of possessions; rather, I would prefer to gain friends around the world with whom I share interesting experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Ivan's couch in Transcarpathia, a couple of flats in other parts of Ukraine, a beasty little place in Jurmala, Latvia...a few other adventures here and there!
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I have an eclectic collection/interest in music...I like anything from U2 (I got to go to their show in Portland; great time!) to Sigor Rios to Willie Nelson to my old favorite, Johnny Cash! Few people know that I actually did sing on-stage once with the first lady of country music, Miss Tammy Wynette! Oh yeah, I also saw Elvis in concert. I gave the ticket stub to my brother, David, and one of his friends stole it. Too bad. My wife and I went to see Dolly Parton last week! that was a kick!
Movies: "To End All Wars" is a lesson in sacrifice and courage. I recommend it.
Television: I am not interested in this moral and spiritual desert.
Books: "Stiff...The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers" is an interesting read. I recommend "Under the Overpass" about how we so often ignore the needs of the homeless and those on the margins of society. It should be required reading. Buy someone lunch today.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Shanghai, in the dark, from the river...Red Square at sunrise...The Nile...A summer thunderstorm in the Austrian Alps...snails & wine at a cafe on a warm June night in Lisbon...Talking with an ice fisherman on the frozen River Daugava, in Riga...So many things...
