About Me

CURRENT MISSION

TO see as much of the world as I can. TRAVEL, travel, travel! After spending 3 years wandering about the globe with my partner Karina we settled down and have spent the last 2 years living in Bangkok.

I am a Special Education Teacher and Karina is a Fitness Instructor/Blogger. We are both full of energy and love to learn as much as we can from locals when we are exploring a new place. Right now we are on summer vacation.

ABOUT ME

I love to be outdoors, particularly when I am hiking, cycling, rollerblading, swimming or sitting in front of a camp-fire. I am not afraid to get dirty in fact I prefer it when I am! Unfortunately I am also known for being clumsy so there is a good chance I might step on your toes at least ONCE before we part ways.

Karina and I are NOT party animals. I can't stress this enough. A few drinks is great but we have zero interest in getting drunk. We prefer low-key social situations where we can have more intimate conversation with people. Our priority is to acquire a deeper understanding of the cultures we encounter in our travels and to tell interesting stories about our adventures on our blog.

I absolute LOVE to cook; my friends and family frequently benefit from this. If you invite me to stay at your place I recommend saving your appetite. You won't be disappointed +) Best case scenario is that I surf with people who also love cooking. I am very interested in learning how to prepare local cuisine in every country I travel through.

Friends would probably tell you that I am a smart ass...which is VERY true. I am a child at heart. I love to laugh and make others laugh as well.

PHILOSOPHY

Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met interesting people all over the world thanks to this program.

I appreciate it when people take the time to read my profile to learn more about me before accepting my request to meet up or sending a request to crash on my couch. I always make a point to read profiles carefully and I believe it is important that people be honest and forthcoming in descriptions of who they are and how they like to have fun. I enjoy spending time sharing common interests with people and learning from those who are seeking out a cultural exchange experience.

Please include the phrase "spaceballs" in your request to me so I KNOW you have read my entire profile. Thanks!!!

Interests

I once had a love affair with a motorcycle. I purchased my very FIRST motorcycle- 2005 Honda Shadow XLS and it broke my heart when I had to sell him a few years ago. When my girlfriend and I set out on our journey across the globe we quit our jobs, sold everything we had then set out to tour the globe. We lived as backpackers foe 2.5 years before building a life in Bangkok.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Special Moments in my Life:

Sky diving with my dad
Drinking a beer on a rooftop terrace while watching a volcano erupt in the distance.
Flying in a glider-plane
Riding through New England on my first adventure, on my motorcycle!!!
Filling up my water-bottle with glacier water in Calgary.
Seeing a wolf saunter across the street in Saskatchewan.
Going kayaking for the first time in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.
People-watching (while writing in my journal and drinking cafe con leche) in the parque central (Havana, Cuba).
Seeing a monkey bouncing about the trees in Monterrico just like I would see squirrels doing the same back home in Canada.
Being from Ontario I had never skied a REAL mountain until winter 2011 when I traveled to Banff, Calgary. The feeling in the pit of my stomach when I stood at the top of the mountain for the first time...amazing!
Jungle trekking in Borneo
Watching mass exodus of millions of bats from Deer Cave in Borneo
Communicating for the first time in Spanish to someone who didn't speak a WORD of English (while traveling in Guatemala)
Backpacking through Guatemala with my Dad and Karina
Living in China for 3 months
Hitchhiking across the Taroko mountains in Taiwan.
Experiencing a real jungle and seeing my first wild orangutan in Borneo
Watching monks take selfies with their Iphones outside a temple in Thailand
Waking up to watch the sunrise over Deadhorse canyon in Utah, USA.
Learning to meditate in Myanmar
Drinking coffee under a canopy of trees in West lake, Hanoi.
