About Me
He there: I'm Paul van Hooff, a Dutch journalist/writer/adventurer/traveler. In 2007 I became a member of Couch Surfing but just recently I try to make use of it. I was born in Kaduna, Nigeria (1964). I've studied journalism from 1987 to 1991, finished. I've been a print journalist all my working life. Love motorcycles and I love to travel. From 2005 to 2008 I've traveled with my Moto Guzzi V7 from Alaska to Argentina. I wrote a succes full book Man in the saddle, published in Dutch. After that I lived 8 years in Bolivia, where I've to sons, the twin Santiago & Sebastian. At the moment I'm traveling from Amsterdam to Japan, yes in winter. My publisher send me on this mision. I write the book while I'm traveling. I'm very active on Facebook. Love to meet people. I've a very positive mind and very good energy. You need that when you're on the road and want to meet people. I'm strong, though when it comes to endurance, but I've a very big heart. My week point is that I'm not very good in saying good bye (let people go), but I'm working on that. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Love to meet up with people.
Interests
I love to write, take pictures and to hangout, boy I can me lazy. Like movies, read books and talk about life. I intent to live in the now. I'm religious, but I don't believe in a God, made up by institutions. Through my travels I've seen so many strange stuff that I just know that there's a God, or call it energy. That energy is at my side, can feel that. I've lived 23 years in Amsterdam, so I like hanging out in bars. I'm certainly not a disco or club guy.
Music, Movies, and Books
Indie Rock, sub pop. Underground music. I'm not a mainstream guy, so I don't listen to mainstream music. I reed Dutch writers. Favorite movie: The revenant.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was a print journalist for 13 years. On day I just made the decision to leave it all behind and traveled on my Moto Guzzi (that's my motorcycle) from the most northern tip of Alaska to the most southern city in the world, Ushuaia, in Argentina. I wanted to travel a year, but it took my three years to finish. I was free as a bird. That trip changed my life completely.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach languages, or how to write a good manuscript.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My energy, my positive way of thinking and lot's of stories. I've seen to many countries to fill them in below.
