About Me

CURRENT MISSION

boosting my resistance to jet lag *yawn*

ABOUT ME

These last couple of years I've been working overseas but unfortunately got laid off from the job. Now I'm going back to school in the fall, moving toward a career in therapy, or counseling as some like to call it. Besides work aspirations, I tend to always have 'alot going on in life' and feel too busy most of the time! For this reason, I love travel, it's where I can kick back and relax a bit and just enjoy the moment. I tend to have a delightfully dry humor but that's just my humor, overall I'm a very positive and easy going person...I like to see what life brings along and for that, I tend to feel lucky most of the time!

PHILOSOPHY

My favorite quote sums it up: "Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage" - Anais Nin

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now i can just share my life and experiences with those i stay with.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love couchsurfing! For me, my trips are more about who I meet than what I just came to see, and I've found it's the people you meet who make all the difference. In my travels, I've definitely found that i prefer couchsurfing to the random hostel experience, because I can choose who I meet and focus on getting to know them, and the city/country they love so much.

Interests

I'm pretty outdoorsy, but I love cities too. Long hikes are good, as are hours sunning to a crisp on the beach. Long lunches, exploring new territories, and intense tennis matches are some favorite ways I spend my time. I love art and architecture but can't handle being in museums for too long (unless I'm learning about Science) and I love to assess and analyze culture. Particularly American culture, there's a lot going on here. And I love the Slow Food movement.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like any kind of movie with a good plot twist and clever dialogue and message. I have a difficult time watching movies that insult my intelligence. For books, I like art books, travel writing, and historical fiction, a couple of favorites are Life of Pi by Yann Martel and East of Eden by Steinbeck. I like lots of different music genres, too much to list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm easily impressed i suppose...but I once saw the most beautiful sunset in northern Wisconsin. It contained every gorgeous and luminescent color imaginable!

Teach, Learn, Share

From my nutrition days, I would always pass along this very educational website: www.realmilk.com
It provides resources all over the world to find fresh foods from certified organic farms that are extremely nutritious and traditional, just like nature intended them to be.

And for those of you not living in the States, here's a sample of how I waste time: www.theonion.com. Ah..good ol American humor
