About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am leaving NYC in late December and moving to Europe. Before I settle, I will be traveling the continent for about a month and hope to meet some kindred souls. Until then, I want to help those visiting New York in order to induce beautiful karma.
ABOUT ME
I am unlike any other girl you will ever meet. I have been spoiled in life, and I know it. I am smart, and will win any debate I may have with you, even if I don't know what I'm talking about. I become obsessed with strange things: pink Starbursts, serial killers and true crime, Art Bell's AM radio show about ghosts and the paranormal, and the HBO show Six Feet Under. I am little, but strong. I have power. I can dance to any kind of music, and I will, too, so be careful. You heard me. Watch yourself. I like to feed my head, as Grace Slick said. On that note, I really like Grace Slick. She tried to sneak LSD into a white house tea party in order to slip it into Nixon and his wife's cups. Security caught a vibe from her, though, and threw her out. Today, Grace is clean as a whistle, but still says things like this: "I've done most drugs known to man and most men known to drugs". How can you not appreciate a woman like that? I am the kind of woman that can. There is nothing wrong with being beguiling to gain simple pleasures. I know that eating candy keeps your soul young. Leonard Cohen is Jesus Christ reborn, and I highly suggest you listen to his music, especially one called Suzanne. Music is important to me. The energy of Manhattan nourishes me more often than actual food. But I take my vitamins twice daily. I burn incense all the time. I don't own a television and haven't read a newspaper in weeks and guess what? I'm still alive! I'm the most trustworthy person you'll ever meet who is also constantly straddling a thread thin line separating insantity (clinical) from sanity (non-clinical). A psychic cabdriver once told me my future. I don't tan. I'm a natural blonde. My eyes are like those of a cat, and because one's eyes are the only feature that never change, no matter how old she gets, I am happy. I will be remembered as the pale girl with eyes like a cat who dances naked to Cohen's Suzanne at indecent hours of the morning.
PHILOSOPHY
Lately, I've come to realize that attainment of happiness and freedom from worry, anxiety, and anger is possible for me if I only teach myself to LIVE IN THE MOMENT. For awhile, I couldn't enjoy these moments, because while one was happening, I would be worrying about when the next would be coming. But lately I have been enjoying these moments with no strings attached. I have been looking in the mirror and smiling. I have been facing my fear of quiet (no radio, no music) as I fall asleep. I have told my parents I love them at least twice in the past week. Family is important to me. I am not a very good writer, but I do love to write; if one does what she loves, she will love what she does, and because she is what she does, she will love who she is; my favorite things to eat are berries, and I take my coffee with extra cream; it takes a certain kind of boy to fall for me, but those who fall end up falling too hard and hurting themselves; I have an i-mac, and think i-macs are far superior to other brands of computers; I am proud to live in Manhattan, and of the connections I've made here; your mother will love me, and your father will want to leave your mother for me; I have three beautifulu sisters and one brilliant brother; I stay up all night most nights; traveling to new places is my nourishment - if I do nothing else with my life but travel extensively and actually live among the people of each country and learn to live with them in peace and to understand them, I will die proud, peaceful, and precious. When I've fallen in love, its so far been for keeps.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've never stayed on a couch, but have had various young Europeans crash on mine, as well as on my loft; most of these experiences can be summed up in three words: red wine and dancing. An Austrian couple stayed with me for four nights once. Each night we got drunk on Chianti and danced to Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughn and the Girl from Ipanema (the original, thank you, by Getz/Gilberto). Then we would run outside and sprint through the streets of the West Village. We laughed real, joyful, dominant laughs, direct from our bellies. We ate grapes. We told stories. I believe this experience completely encapsulates the beauty of the Couchsurfing system. If you're one of those people, like myself, who believes there is a plan for you in your life, then you must look at your couchsurfers as deviations from this plan, a monetary tip from above, extra frosting on the cake. You are being given the gift of a shared experience with someone you never would have met otherwise, whom you never would have shared any experiences with. This kind of thing makes me want to keep living.

Music, Movies, and Books
Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Cowboy Junkies, Edith Piaf; Sweet Smell of Success, Happiness, Vanilla Sky, Goodfellas; In Cold Blood (Capote), Sound and the Fury (Faulkner), Delta of Venus (Anais Nin), You Shall Know Our Velocity! (Eggers). (I chose four of each, beginning with music and ending in books, because I like too many to list them - isn't this kind of like asking someone what their favorite food is?)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once transformed myself into "Photogirl", New York City's one and only roving photographer, for an entire summer. I walked the streets of New York in my photogirl uniform of sweet but sexy, short but not slutty, and maneuvered my way into the beautiful moments in peoples' lives. "Photos! Photogirl Originals! One dollar! Capture the beautiful moments in your life!" I had a Canon digital camera and went through three, count em' three(!) Canon battery operated printers. Delancey Street was my busiest, the Upper East Side not so much. "New York City's one and only roving photographer!" I made those getting there photo(s) taken believe that I did this for a living, that it was my livelihood. It was my valentine to New York, because I was so in love. New York and I, we moved in synch, we felt the other's pulse and danced late into the night. I remember the feeling when I took my first GOOD photograph: it was like giving birth. This girl was gone; only Photogirl remained.
