Saving hard so we can go backpacking around the world together... again!
My husband and I just returned from an 11 month RTW trip that we absolutely loved. We went on our first backpacking trip in 2007 and loved every minute of it and it inspired us to continue travelling. On our most recent travels we headed to Europe, Middle East, North America, Central America and South America. We are now enjoying living in Melbourne, checking out the art, food and sport trying to save money for our next adventure to Asia and Africa.
Work to live, not live to work!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have hosted and met a few travellers for drinks back in Adelaide and while travelling were lucky enough to surf other people's couches. Now we are hoping to host people in our new home in Melbourne.
We surfed a few couches during our RTW trip, and made great friends with every host! I have met a few people for coffee and hosted for about 6 nights back in Adelaide. Every experience I have had with CS has been extremely positive.
Travelling, meeting new people, trying local food, beer and wine, playing and watching all types of sport but especially rugby, AFL and basketball, and planning our next adventure. Katherine is also passionate about international relations and refugee issues, while Tom is a huge music and records fan with a pretty eclectic and impressive collection.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music - grunge/rock/heavy metal, but will pretty much listen to anything. We did go to the Lady Gaga concert in Tallinn!
Movies - this is totally more Tom's area than mine, but recent ones we have seen are Fast and Furious 6 (terrible), Monsters University, the new Bond film and The Hobbit. Also fans of a couple of oldies like Gladiator and Forrest Gump, but will watch pretty much anything.
TV - love English and Irish comedy especially Father Ted and Black Books. Love Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Walking Dead, Under the Dome and Homeland.
Books - Game of Thrones, Tolkien, Stephen King, whatever I can find at the hostel book swap. Also a bit of modern history (especially international relations) and travel books too when we are feeling like being a bit more serious
