About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience life fully via the five senses. And then see if there aren't more senses out there.

ABOUT ME

I am a lover of the written word and great food. I am eager to engage in enlightening conversations with people from different cultures. I can be highly active but am also equally content doing low-energy things like reading, watching interesting films, and listening to music.

PHILOSOPHY

Mental stimulation is its own reward.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Through my good friend Chuck.

Interests

I am a student of life. I'd like to see more and more of this world. I find comfort in talking to like-minded souls about everything from good food to deciphering the mysteries of the universe.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm almost done with Paul Harding's Tinkers which is chock-full of beautiful language and powerful metaphors, and I also read A LOT of ancient Greek plays and American literature for my classes. Read The Road by Cormack McCarthy. Heartbreaking, sparse, and so fundamentally human. I am a film buff. Seriously.
Movies: Bunuel, Almodovar, Inarritu, Amenabar, Tarantino, and so many others. My favorite film of all time is "Cinema Paradiso." I have been a voracious reader for the last 26 years so my list of loved novels is loooooooooooong. I especially love Steinbeck, Marquez, Borges, Maria Luisa Bombal, Neruda, Lorca, and so on and so on. Do I really have to? Of course, Shakespeare, Twain, James, Miller, Sexton, Plath, aaghhh...too many! My taste in music is widely varied - check out Federico Aubele and Sanders Bohlke. Also Cat Power. Good, good stuff!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
