About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to live life richly and love those around me

ABOUT ME

I was not very active with Couchsurfing for a while. I've hosted dozens of people, but up until now never couchsurfed myself. I used to live in Savannah, GA and Asheville, NC, but now I'm in Southern California. However, I am going to be "walking" this week. That's a tradition we have in the community I'm a part of where a couple of us go out with backpacks for a week, looking to meet others with a similar heart.

I belong to a spiritual community, you could say. I have a wife and three wonderful sons. In our community we share our possessions and live as a large family. (This is in a wholesome sense. We're not a hippie commune, but we do choose "WE"-culture over "I"-culture.) Here human relationships are what life is all about.

PHILOSOPHY

No act of love is ever wasted.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Long before I ever heard of "couch-surfing," our doors have been open to hundreds and hundreds of guests. Because our life is unique, many people desire to see it and experience what it's like. I was a guest here once myself. We do have some rules: no smoking in the house; no foul language (we have young children), etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We sometimes go out in pairs with nothing but a backpack. Then we hitchhike and stay with people who invite us in, and go back out during the day to meet people or continue traveling. Every time I've gone hitchhiking and "walking" I've met many kind, interesting people.

Interests

I actually enjoy doing yard work, fixing things, etc. I always find it worthwhile to connect hearts with other people and find "common ground."

Music, Movies, and Books

We play a lot of live music; do a lot of circle dancing, etc. I play a little guitar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've come across a way of life where people can look out for the needs of each other instead of always looking out for "number one."
