About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I live to make the world a better place, one day at a time.

ABOUT ME

I love this world. I love exploring it, and being a part of it. Community is a strong word to me, and mine will always be one with no exclusions. If you exist, I'll be glad to meet you!

I lived in Japan for a long while, and then went back to the United States, but ran away again. Recently I have returned to the United States after six months of living and teaching in Peru! Now I am teaching in my own home area to others that have come here!

Cool community to share: lang-8.com which is a network for people studying other languages to have their stuff looked at. Help them grow!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that we learn from the experiences we build over life. No matter how far we travel, or how long away time takes us, those experiences have built us to the people we become. My philosophy is to experience, learn, share and change this world. These are the things I believe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I am home, you can crash with me! I have couch surfed in a few countries, and am always looking for some new experiences! I started some couch surfing meet ups to get to know people, a few years ago. Aside from this, I meet random couchsurfers on the road sometimes, and just exist as a general commuity member in the world!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfers has an awesome community, I usually find. I have hosted several people in my rural Japanese country side apartment -- all of whom I found to be just generally amazing people. I also organized a couch surfing picnic, when I moved to my new town in Japan, which was how I ended up meeting my best friend there, and many other people. I have couch surfed in several countries, mostly in Europe, and am now working on a mission in the United States, which if you'd like to help put me up for a few days, that would be great!

Interests

Traveling, hiking, friends, meeting new people, go, science fiction, language, study, teaching, learning, community, environment, activism, saving the world, making a difference, reading, music, chainmail, cello, random things.

Music, Movies, and Books

music.. Garbage, The Gathering, Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky, The Knife, Queen Adreena, Rasputina, Lisa LeBlanc, Eliza Rickman, SJ Tucker, Depeche Mode, anything old school 80s or with a female vocalist, and so so much more.

movies: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Goodbye Lenin, the Labyrinth, Pan´s Labyrinth, Strangelove, Repo the Genetic Opera

books.. anything by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, HP LoveCraft, Douglas Adams, collections of Zen Koans, sci fi, fantasy, poetry, chapbooks.

A further assortment just too long to list, in terms of music and books. Movies I don't watch quite as much of these days, though I do love TED talks and various documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to the peaks of the rocky mountains and threw a snowball in the middle of July!

Climbed two parts of the Great Wall of China in one day, barefoot.

Swimming with the fishes and turtles in the Great Barrier.

Going to Machu Picchu -- and then exploring northern Peru, and realizing just how much there is to that place.

Falling in love.

Teaching children their first words in a new language.

山水人/やまうとでキャンプした。本当に世界の霊場です。

Lived in Japan for five and a half years.

Challenged myself to move to a new country with no experience there, and ended up living in the Andies mountains for half a year at the foot of the Amazon!

Teach, Learn, Share

Love and live in the journey.
Teach and learn and all will be grand, even when it isn't.
Meet new people, and share experiences.

Life is this beautiful grand experience, every day should be a challenge to do just one thing that makes you happy to be alive. Doesn't matter how small or large.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A world of experience, and the ability to help with housework, especially dishes and cooking! I do love to teach origami and practice random crafts.
