关于我
CURRENT MISSION
I apsire to live up to the philosophy of a Gentleman Gypsy. A Gentleman Gypsy is a man/woman who seeks to imbibe the sweet libation of the human experience through travels and continuous self-regeneration, but accepting his temporal state in 21 Century
ABOUT ME
I am and cheery chap, inclined to fitful, bone shaking bouts of overwhelming joie de vivre, garnished with a sincere commitment to the pursuit of knowledge. More importantly, I am madly in love with language (ach, sweet paramour)! My obsession derives primarily from my love of human interaction. But how else could that occur without the expressive and titillating linguistic variability of human language. As of now, Arabic is at the forefront of my mind. The subtle beauty and vibrant phonetics of this masterful language has utterly possessed me. Currently, am finishing up my Fulbright Scholar Project in Salalah, Oman (pfew). It was a lot of work and I had difficulty with housing (had hoped to host, but alas, I am still waiting for that appropriate apartment) and have my mind set on finishing.
PHILOSOPHY
Although crass, my life philosophy is as follows: Life is a banquet and most poor SOBs are starving to death (I censored myself so as not to offend). I got that from a film called "Mame" with Rosslyn Russell. Good philosophy, because it encompasses the fact that there are so many people who never actualize the beauty of the human experience in their lives. Therefore, it is up to us Genlte(wo)men gypsies to take advantage of the endless, bountiful cornucopia of feelings, sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the world (and make up for those poor souls starving of ignorance).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I pledge to share my world, my experiences, my perspectives with those who want to crash at my place and help construct an understanding of this chaos (if there is to be an intended understanding)! In other words, COUCH IS OPEN!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I did not really realize it, but I have been couchsurfing for years, as well as hosting couchsurfers, unofficially and not through couchsurfing, but rather on the fly. I guess you can say my first experience was in Germany as an exchange student, then in Winterthur, Switzerland, Como Italy, Alicante Spain, then Cairo, Egypt, then Musqat, Oman. I also couchedsurfed in my own city for a week when I was homeless (well, kind of, just between moving apartments).

我做过的一件不可思议的事情
The sunset over the mountains outside of Granada, the azure, mercury color of the waters at Alicante, eating Saumagen at a Kerbis in the middle-of-nowhere Germany, flying to cairo for the first time and knowing I am home!, sitting in a mafraj in the mountains of yemen watching the clouds pull out of the valley like dragons that kept a solemn, nocturnal watch over the village, listening to the zagruta echoing through the gingerbread-walled streets of Sanaa during weddings...
