Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've couch-surfed meeting locals where we've traveled, and hosted others at our place, but we are new to the CS online site.
Interests
We both enjoy the beach, the outdoors, exploring, hiking, horseback riding, photo-safaris, baseball games, museums, the Botanical Gardens, small pubs/bars, live music, mountain climbing, biking, sailing, meeting new people, seeing new sights, dogs, history, health issues, humanitarian work, smart conversations, and meeting genuine people.
I have a particular passion for women's health and wellness, empowering girls and women world-wide, and supporting physiological birthing (i.e. as little intervention as is truly necessary).
Nick also loves to sky dive, take on a good roller coaster, and other heart-pounding activities. I (thus far) am too big a wimp. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Waaaaay too many favorite books to list. We are both reading-nerds and savor a good book. Most our shelves are stocked with non-fiction...but you are welcome to visit our "library" should you fancy a borrow.
I particularly have just about every women-friendly, baby-friendly pregnancy and birthing book that has been written. In addition, I have all the DVDs that exist on this topic (Birth as We Know It, Birth Day, Gentle Birth, etc). I currently work as a doula part-time, and a women's health educator part-time, so I love to share these resources with anyone interested. Just ask :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Nick has seen some pretty amazing sights around the world surfacing out from the ocean on various submarines...I myself was pretty in awe traveling thru Alaska, as well as in love with many parts of the wild wild west. The most spiritually moving places I have spent time were working with women in the poor, rural Chichen Itza area of the Yucatan, and the rural mountainlands of Jamaica. I desperately desire to do more "good" in my travels than just see things. I would like to in some little way make this world a better place, but wouldn't most of us like to do this as well??
