About Me

CURRENT MISSION

1. Provide food, comfort, and adventure for my family. 2. Sing a lot. 3. Be generous.

ABOUT ME

I've been a street performer since the summer of 1995. I started (just before my final year at UCLA) on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California. I would like to sing in commercials so that I would have more time to study music and concentrate on songwriting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm newly registered as of 8-23-07. I hope to find occasional places to stay with my family when we go to Boulder. I hope to make friends that I can feel comfortable inviting to stay with my family and me to be closer to skiing, fishing, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had a number of couchsurfing-esque experiences in my life. I've hosted and been hosted. I've taken hitchhikers halfway across the country. I've spent nights on friends' couches when I was traveling or in transition. I've taken friends in when times were tough for them.

My first couchsurfing experience with strangers was when I was in Korea in the army. I found the Korean people to be extremely hospitable. My interest in their language and culture led to many offers of tea, dinner, and a place to stay.

Several years ago, my sister and I were traveling from Colorado to California. Two German couples were involved in a car fire on the road between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. We drove them to L.A. where I was living at the time. They stayed at my house through the end of their vacation. The girls went back to Germany a week before the guys did. I recently contacted one of the group thanks to an internet search. He was excited to hear from me and said that he had been trying to contact me over the years as well.

Two winters ago, we took in a couple of homeless guys for a week. One wanted to get a job and the other was really sick and needed a warm place to heal. The first got a job for two days, then decided to visit his family in New England. The other slept for two days, then spent the rest of the week playing with my daughter and realizing what he was missing out on by not being around his own two kids.

My family and I have been hosted by a number of people in Boulder. We've done some backyard camping and some floor/bed/couchsurfing there.

I hope to have some land some day so I can renovate an old motor home that we have and make it a guest room.

Interests

I love singing and playing guitar. I hope to make a living singing some day. We spend a lot of time hanging out with other street performers. My daughter is being home schooled and is the smartest and best socializer in the family. My wife is the coolest mom in the world and enjoys meeting new people too. I'm blessed to have a family that enjoys adventure and a non-traditional lifestyle.
