About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Putting the round peg in the round hole and the square peg in the square hole.

ABOUT ME

Grass doesn't grow faster if you pull it...Seek first to understand then to be understood...Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.

Just a few insights I recently gained and try to live by. Gives a lot of peace, quiet, comfort and possibilities!

I live together with Wilbert, and we moved to Amersfoort in December of 2008. So we're also still discovering this peaceful but lovely city!

I love to cook, and I don't mind cooking for many people. To me, preparing (large) dinners is relaxing. It's about maximazing my concentration on one thing, really being in the spur of the moment. Maybe mindful is the right description...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS-experience is growing. Two in in Iran, having drinks, walking and talking. Both were very good experiences. Hosted a few people now, and I enjoyed it very much, it was really something different to meet new people in my own home! I'd recommend it to everyone :-)

Now one thing left to do: go couchsurf with someone myself!

Interests

I'm into spending time with nice people, cooking, reading, surfing the web, tweeting (twitter.com/lokjelokje), enjoying music, visiting concerts, travelling, walking, sleeping...

Music, Movies, and Books

One of the most impressive movies I've seen recently is The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. A (true!) story about a successful guy that becomes paralysed. The lock-in syndrome: he is conscious, but he can use no part of his body, except his left eye. To me, it shows that there are two basics in all of us, we will not lose as long as we're alive and conscious.
You have the ability to remember the things you have experienced, and the ability to imagine *all* other things.

A quote "I decided to stop pitying myself. Other than my eye, two things aren't paralyzed, my imagination and my memory."
