ABOUT ME

Over the last few years, I have come to discover that I am actually quite a strange person. I may seem shy at first sight, but once you get to know me, all hell breaks loose! According to insiders, I am hilarious (I once almost killed my brother when a piece of sandwich got stuck in his throat while I was telling a funny story). I really love to laugh and to do things that not many other people do (or at least I hope so, don't want to be one of the flock...).

PHILOSOPHY

I have decided just to be myself and I have come to the happy conclusion that there are always people around who are equally crazy and who like me for who I am. It has taken me twenty years to find that out, so I'm quite proud of that!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Recently, I have moved back home from my student town. Bye bye Leuven :( My parents are not really into the whole couchsurfing thing, so for the time being, my only contribution can be a drink or a guided tour of the town and its surroundings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far, but I hope to change that soon!

Intereses

Art, fashion, cinema, (art nouveau) architecture, theatre, literature, retro artwork, furniture and everyday objects, photography, travelling, learning new languages...

One of my biggest passions is music. I love my old record player and I am trying to expand my record collection as much as possible! Without music, I would just wither like a flower...

My taste is far too eclectic, but I'll try to give it a go.

Movies: silent movies accompanied by live piano, corny musicals, costume drama, dreamy movies such as Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind, Amélie Poulain, etc, etc

Music: anything from twenties charleston, over fourties bigband (Glenn Miller, Andrews Sisters), sixties girl bands (Shangri-las, Martha and the Vandellas), disco (Boney M!!), sixties and seventies lsd bands (Velvet Underground, Cream, Doors, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane), and to step out of the categories: Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Jacques Brel, Nick Cave, Edith Piaf, Dalida, Interpol, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Patrick Wolf, Goose, Soulwax, Blonde Redhead, Air, MIA, Explosions in the Sky, Bloc Party... I really love classical music and jazz as well.

Books: The secret History, most of the Russian classics, Special Topics in Calamity Physics, everything from TASCHEN!

Algo increíble que he hecho

It's not a whale-spotting or desert-camping thing, since my travel experiences so far are just citytrips, but a small thing that really made me very happy was watching my student town from the tower of the library while the carillon was playing. I couldn't have imagined a more beautiful goodbye of my student years.

I have been in music school for thirteen years, so I suppose I can teach people quite some stuff about music. I have a degree in literature, so if you need any tips on good books to read, just ask! Maybe some things about retro movies, cars or artwork, or just some Dutch, English, French, German or Portuguese?
