About Me
CURRENT MISSION
finding balance between domesticity and adventure
ABOUT ME
Matthew and I met backcountry skiing out to Ostrander Hut in Yosemite. It wasn't long until we were walking down the aisle together. Our connection was grounded in our love of everything outdoors, and our passion for education. We both have lived in quasi-intentional communities (Matthew in the Domes at Davis for a few years longer than he was supposed to, and me in several outdoor education schools in California.) After years of traveling the world and surfing others couches (even without the convenience of this site) we now have our own home that we are so happy to open to the greater traveling community.
PHILOSOPHY
Again I find myself returning to the word BALANCE.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Our location has brought us many international couch surfers eager for a vista of the famed Yosemite cliffs.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Once I followed my very attractive Thai Massage teacher all the way from Chaing Mai (where we met) down to Kuala Lumpur. Ended up he was actually contracted to work for the wife of the prime minister there... so my anticipation of just "couch surfing" at the place he was staying was denied as my American passport did not get security approval to stay at his compound. I did get to go and visit my friend's luxury guest quarters during the day. He had an amazing oversized king bed, but was sleeping on the floor because he had taken some Buddhist vows which prohibit sleeping on soft surfaces!
Interests
Skiing- downhill/tele/cross-country, running, biking, climbing mountains, yoga and the healing arts, community and sharing meals/music/laughter, disc golf, gardening, listening to A's games, eating carnitas from taco stands, visiting friends all over the world and learning to fingerpick on the guitar.

Music, Movies, and Books
Just finished Eat,Pray,Love and Three Cups of Tea...so these are my current faves. I love a good, true story of travel and crazy adventures.
In the movie category we tend to like the ridiculous comedies that make us laugh out loud.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sunrise on the Kangshun face of Everest from our tent at 17,000 feet with my father in Tibet.
Led a group of 14 high school students to rural India to build a community center for women.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to learn more guitar skills, in return I can offer you an authentic Thai Massage. Matthew is an expert gardener and can teach anyone the fabulously emerging sport of disc golf (we have a course on our property.)
