CURRENT MISSION
Being and dreaming at the same time
ABOUT ME
My name is Katinka. I live in Copenhagen, the big capital of the small country Denmark. I was born here 24 years ago, and have lived here all of my life. I'm both a dreamer and an organizer, chaotic as well as ambitious, passionate about what both I and others do, I have a naive faith in the world and my own way through it, I take things lightly but very seriously and am most often quite happy about life. I love riding my bike, eating ice cream in all weather, meeting new people, cooking, reading and life in general.
I live with three friends on the top floor of an old apartment building in the neighborhood called Nørrebro. I really love sharing a home with other people, creating post-families and new traditions. I'm into the idea of living collectively, sharing ideas and resources.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed in Iran in the summer of 2008. I've hanged out with quite a few couchsurfers here in Copenhagen, but unfortunately never hosted anyone (yet).
Interests
I am a (graduate) student of anthropology, because I have an insatiable curiosity about people(s) and their worlds. I love learning from others and to have my own world turned upside down. Currently I am traveling on the West coast of America to pursue exactly those interests.
I'm also interested in food, nature, american literature, the 1920'ies, resistance movements of all times, visual media, conversation, philosophy. I like cooking and would like to speak more languages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- In 2008 I visited Iran and it made me realize just how little I can understand other peoples worlds (the circumstances for living in Iran and Denmark are very different), but also how much love there can be between people who are strangers to each other and how much can be gained from realizing how ones own perspective is so limited. I will never understand the world or life or whatever, but all the experiences that comes from attempting to is what leads me forward.
- When I first tried Google streetview - I was amazed and disgusted - it is unbelievable how we can now get a peak into places so so far away, and at the same time how little those images actually tell us. It made me want to travel around the world a 100 times.
- My first year of studying anthropology - and learning about others in general
