Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Been to Europe, N. Africa, South America, and all over the U.S., visiting friends and sleeping on their couches. Have had people from South Africa and the U.S. sleeping on ours.
Experiencing the culture from a non-tourist perceptive is priceless. I don't like being a tourist and love to be shown the realness of a place.
Interests
David - Reading, hiking, driving, cooking, exercise and health, sports, spanish language.
Joanna-Racing Catamarans/sailing, traveling, sewing/quilting, hiking, handyman projects of all kinds, and too many other things to list. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
David - Bourne trilogy, Matrix trilogy, American Beauty, Love all kinds of music and I love to read anything from interesting essays in a magazine or a really good novel.
Joanna-I like a little of everything when it comes to movies. Enjoyed Hardy, Dumas, and Cervantes. Usually too busy with other things to sit still and read but do enjoy it. Music likes go by my mood.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
David- We were in Quito, Ecuador one early evening staying at a guest house for the night when a really bad storm started blowing through. Hail like we've never seen. The water and hail combination quickly accumulated to about 3 feet and flooded some nearby buildings but the amazing thing was when the hail started to come up through the toilet pipes and gushed out from the bowl all over the floor upstairs. The water was freezing and deep. All the guests pitched in to fill buckets to toss the water and hail out of the upstairs windows. It took quite awhile to clean up but afterwards we all ate a great meal together.
Joanna-Sitting at the top of Wayna Picchu after the hard climb up enjoying the silence. In aw of the Great City of the Inca's below and the great Andes mountains on all sides.
Teach, Learn, Share
David - It's easy to be comfortable in our own culture but being a traveler has expanded the way I experience people from other cultures. I'm more aware of the world outside of the U.S.
Joanna - Enjoy life to the fullest and be responsible with and share what I have been given. Treat others as I want to be treated.
