About Me

I like people, i like stories, I like musics, I like jokes and I like food. Encountering any of these makes me a happy hand-clapping smiling person. Other then hand-clapping, I do other tricks: I 'tinker', and play the cello, I dwell the city and outside, I write papers, I read books, I work in my mom's garden, I embrace the world while actually still secretly hoping to change it by engaging with it (if you see what I mean...). I like to move to near and distant places. But at the moment, I'm teaching myself to stay.

It's a cliché, but I think 'take what life has to offer' suits me pretty well. And also 'offer what life has to give'. Amongst others... :)

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

hosting and surfing, meeting, expanding the network, ...

Surfed with amazing people, hosted amazing people, met amazing people through couchsurfing... Meeting and staying with people is what traveling is about, whether or not it happens via couchsurfing.

People: their stories, thoughts, beliefs and worldviews

Musics and musicians of all kinds, styles, categories, places, ... . But also on a theoretical level: the politics/sociology/anthropology of music. I'm officially a musicologist now.

Reading, moving.

I'm also very interested in the social structure of cities, issues related to international politics and power relationships and taking care of trees.

Music, Movies & Books

Music: some of my all-time favourites: Cinematic Orchestra, Massive Attac, Elis Regina, Tom Jobim, Otis Redding, Air, Eric Satie, Coltrane, Steve Reich, Ravel, Chavela Vargas, Cocorosie, Django Reinhardt, De la Soul, The Streets, Leonard Cohen, Lhasa, mum, Bob Marley, Julie London, Hable-con-ella-soundtrack, Rachel's, Radiohead, Sarah Voughan, Tom Waits, Ravi Shankar, Vincent Segal, Ballaké Sissoko, Arvo Part, and many many more...

I adore Bollywood movies.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Just enjoying the sun with a good friend (or friends) makes me feel happy. On the other hand teaching English to fantastic kids in the Keralan jungle (India) was perhaps my most enriching experience...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the cello-basics, or how to cook a real Flemish meal, or some hindi-phrases (p.s. 5 years later I don't think I can do the Hindi that well any more...).

Countries I've Visited

France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Sweden
