About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Waking up in good humour

ABOUT ME

People say that I'm an autonomous, critical and idealistic person. I guess that's why I don't want to write one of those commonplaces like that I was very fond of ‘meeting new people’“, ‘to party’“ and that I ‘enjoy life and travel’ – I definitely do, but just tell me one person on CS who does not. Sure, it is difficult to write something meaningful in this context. I'll try: Let's say that I consider myself a curious person, curious about what is going on in the world. I'm searching for new things in life, but I also try to deepen my connection to the old ones. I love having people around me, but I also like to concentrate on my work during daytime. I am tolerant, but I think that it is still valuable to strive for an opinion. Often I'm happy as there are many beautiful things in life, but I also feel that it is difficult to be really happy in a society which has moved far from nature, destroys its future by its own success, and where market transactions have replaced many day-to-day human encounters.

PHILOSOPHY

I do not have any ‘personal philosophy’œ. But here are some things I keep thinking about:

In your reflections, do not try to avoid contradicting thoughts. It can feel comfortable to dissolve the tension between conflicting views by choosing one single perspective. Yet, this is how ideologies are born, and the price for maintaining them is ignorance. In sum, tensions between views are normal in pluralist societies. Societal complexity requires complex minds. Society is in us, permeats us. We are composed of the building blocks of our respective societies; just that they are put together a little differently in each of us. This is the source of the miracle which lies in getting to know a person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to make the world more 'habitable' by offering a place to someone coming through. I think that anyone travelling will benefit more from staying with someone living in the place than from just looking at monuments and so on. A place really is the people who live there, right?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
