About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Working on an American History PhD

ABOUT ME

I'm a grad student at UT-Austin. My schedule is very flexible but during the school year it's really tough to accommodate any visitors due to the requirements of my program. So if you'd like to visit Austin in the heat of summer, let me know!

PHILOSOPHY

objectivist; libertarian

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm willing to host people and I want to couchsurf some more on my own.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed in Nebraska and Wyoming on my way out to Washington State back in 2008.

Interests

Everything outdoors! Running, hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. Beer, homebrewing, music, history, politics, college sports (Go Hokies!) and pretty much everything in between.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Anything bluegrass, old-time, or American roots music. Movies - Don't really watch a lot of TV/movies but some favorites are Last of the Mohicans, The Departed, Wyatt Earp, Forrest Gump, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Garden State, etc. Favorite TV series would have to be Band of Brothers, The Office (American), Seinfeld, The Simpsons, South Park.
Books - Any Ayn Rand, A Brave New World, Washingtons Crossing, Hemingway, pretty much all history, current events and non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Depends on the definition of amazing. Probably convincing my wife to marry me...

Teach, Learn, Share

Stuff I know how to do: homebrewing (beginner!), athletic training and general outdoor stuff, fishing, hunting, shooting, military skills, gardening, cooking.
Stuff I want to learn: kayaking, skiing/snowboarding, foreign languages, learn to play an instrument (hopefully banjo)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Germany, Iraq, Kuwait, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
