About Me

I am in the process of moving and will not be able to host.

CURRENT MISSION

Travel the world, make friends, influence people.

ABOUT ME

I am smart, funny, have my SMRT moments as well. I write, I ask A LOT of questions, I love to eat, I smell everything around me (my ex-husband called me bull dog, but I prefer super sniffer) and have a heightened sense of smell when I'm not sick. When I'm sick, it's normal (I have been so sick that I couldn't talk or walk, but I have never lost my sense of taste - which is mainly smell). I'm abnormal in a lot of ways, but I love meeting people and learning about different cultures and learning the history of anywhere that I go. I like taking pictures and hearing stories and reading.

PHILOSOPHY

For a long time, I lived my life for other people, sacrificing what I wanted to give them what they wanted or needed. Now, I am stepping out of my own shadow and forging my own path with my words and my actions. We'll see how that goes. I like to evaluate and re-evaluate and, as I get older, I'm learning the benefits of having no regrets.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My goal is to be able to couchsurf (I'm also a part of hospitality club) and then write about my experience in doing either. I know that my local food and culture magazine will publish my writing on this topic, but I also want to pitch the story to Atlanta magazines as well as some national ones. I also offer my couch, as available to anyone who wishes to surf in Macon, GA.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed on my trip to Europe. It helps if people keep their information up to date. Overall, I enjoyed my experience, but the richest couchsurfing experience was meeting another group of couchsurfers and hanging out, even though we didn't actually get to surf any of their couches. The conversation was fun and meeting such lovely people helped re-energize my enjoyment of traveling and meeting new people.

Interests

I am interested in words, food, books, music, television, food, psychology, human nature, seeing people in their natural environment, photography, technology... I love trying everything twice.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like music alot. Favourites? Neko Case, Radiohead, Modest Mouse, M.I.A. Dizzee Rascal, Kings of Leon, Bloc Party, Iron & Wine, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Belle and Sebastian...I love music I can dance to or just listen to.

For movies, I like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Amelie, The Professional (Leon), Serenity, Shaun of the Dead, The Rundown, Pulp Fiction, When Harry Met Sally, 50 First Dates, Supersize Me, Spiderman 1 & 2 (not 3), Sweeny Todd (and anything by Tim Burton), anything by Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro). I like popular movies and deep films - just try me!

Books - I read a lot of books on writing. I just finished a short story collection by Chris Offutt called Kentucky Straight and it was really good. I am trying to be a good writer, so I haven't read for true pleasure in a long time, although any reading is a pleasure.

I watch a lot of tv so I will put some of my shows on here: How I Met Your Mother, Doctor Who (I am in love with both Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant and maybe Freema Agyeman), House, Bones, Heroes (I am in love with Hiro), Grey's Anatomy, Lost, CSI, CSI:New York, NCIS, Moonlight, Numb3rs, Monk, Psych, Burn Notice, America's Next Top Model, Top Chef, Project Runway, American Idol, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Torchwood, Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, Men in Trees, Desperate Housewives, Battlestar Galactica, did I mention Doctor Who?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have driven cross country (USA) twice. The mountains of Tennessee are so beautiful, and waking up at sunrise in a beach house in Charleston, South Carolina is a sight to behold, however nothing is as beautiful (so far) as the sun setting over the Okavango Delta in Botswana or watching elephants playing in the Chobe River (also in Botswana).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit or spin yarn. I can help anyone who wants help with their english. I can talk about American television, and some british tv, with authority. I love writing and am sometimes good at editing. I worked as a barista for 5 years, so I can give you coffee pointers and may need to get a job at a cafe if I run out of money. I would like to speak french better - I'm learning Italian as well and would like to work on my languages. I just want to learn from others and hope they learn from me.

Countries I’ve Visited
