About Me

ABOUT ME

I live in London, which has been my home for 4 years. I'm currently training to be a Social Worker. Before that I worked for a grass-roots community charity (in a very interesting, diverse and slightly wild part of London!) and before that I was a legal advocate for refugees and asylum seekers. I like people jobs and people experiences! I also like to seek out the weird and wonderful in my own city and wherever I travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Really really great

Interests

I love how diverse London is and the range of cultures you can experience, particularly in South and East London where I spend most of my time. I enjoy exploring the odder parts of London (like the wild Hackney Marshes in East London), getting to know new neighbourhoods, eating food from around the world and talking to people from lots of different backgrounds. The same applies when I travel abroad.

I also like to swim outdoors and to escape London when I can, ideally to warmer climates! One of my favourite ways to travel is WWOOFing, where you work on farms around the world in exchange for food, accommodation and good company. The ethos is a lot like couchsurf and it's a great way of meeting people and getting to know places.

I also like reading, finding things, discussions with friends and listening to the radio. I'm geekily addicted to BBC World Service.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Accidentally staying in one of the only hotels in the anarchist district of Athens during recent protests/riots. A wonderful vibrant place.

Swimming in the sea at night during a dramatic thunderstorm in Georgia when I went there to do archaeology fieldwork when I was a youthful 19 year old.

Working on WWOOF farms in Italy, Spain, France, Serbia and the UK, hosted by some truly amazing and unusual people.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a good knowledge of some of the more unusual parts of London that I'm really keen to share with people. I'm also keen to exchange ideas about politics and the state of the world!
