ABOUT ME

We are an Australian/Swedish couple about to take three months off our everyday lives to go visit Helene's family in Sweden, opting to "stop all stations" on the way there and back.
We both work at the University of Melbourne (in the Entertainment Department), love travelling, are curious by nature and keen to meet new people and cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch Virgins... This is our first encounter, but we've heard only good things from friends who are surfing the globe and are looking forward to the experience!

Interests

The arts, photography, philosophy.. Travel, engaging with new cultures and people and experiencing nature in all its weird and wonderful manifestations.. The deeper side of Life as well as all the little things that make us laugh.

Music, Movies, and Books

Film:
Not huge on Hollywood movies (with a few exceptions), but love arthouse cinema and getting totally submerged into the story playing out on the screen. Helene works extra at the Melbourne International Film Festival so we tend to see a fair bit of film.
Music:
Varied styles (anything from sublime classical to cruisy jazz and eclectic "world music", to quality folk, good solid rock, energetic ska, soulful blues and earthy roots) and too many inspiring acts to mention. Paul is an Audio Technician so music features strongly in our lives.
Books:
Recent favourites are Khaled Hosseini's "The Kite Runner" and Audrey Niffenegger's "The Time-Travellers Wife". Otherwise Milan Kundera, Richard Bach, Pablo Coelho and some of the classics rank high, as do Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Eckhardt Tolle and Byron Katie for a different kind of a read.
