About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world, meet new people, do new things, and maybe give the world a better impression of Americans along the way.

ABOUT ME

Well, lets see... I'm Joe, I'm 25

PHILOSOPHY

I guess my philosophy on life can be best summed up by one of my favorite quotes,"Dream as though you'll live forever, live as though you'll die today." - James Dean
Basically, I feel you should always pursue your goals and dreams, but at the same time don't forget to seize the day. Another thing I believe strongly in is peace and equality. Our society is separated by so many boundaries, like borders, flags, religion, race, and many others. People forget that no matter what flag you fly or god you praise, we're all just people sharing the earth and really aren't all that different. John Lennon is a personal hero of mine. I think he was brilliant and admire that he tried to make a difference in the world. 'Imagine' is one of the most amazing, powerful songs ever written. If people stopped to listen and really take it to heart, I really think the world would be a better place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm actually new to this. Right now I'm living in a small town in Sweden, but have a couch available if anybody decides to come through here, but for now, I'm mainly hoping to meet people in the cities I will be traveling to and hopefully find a place to stay there. Once I return to the U.S. and get established, I hope to return the favor to travelers coming to the L.A. area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any "official CouchSurfing" experience, but I have slept on many couches. Whenever I came home to visit from Chico, my best friend's family always had a couch for me. Also, a few years back, a family friend knew a woman from Italy that needed a place to stay, so we had her stay with us for a few months. It was a very interesting and educational experience not to mention a crash course in cultural differences.

Interests

I have many interests, including skateboarding, snowboarding, going to the beach, c6625ng, camping, traveling, running, football (die hard Oakland Raiders fan), baseball, and reading. My main interest and focus is music. I love it and I live it. There are not many things I do without it. I can play a little bass guitar and a little piano, but mostly I'm a listener and a lover. I have been to more concerts than I can count (and still have most of the ticket stubs!) and am always excited to go to more. There is just something about seeing live music that just moves me. I just love to feel and connect with the music. I have studied music industry so that I can spend my career immersed in music.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow, this one is tough. I'll try to take them in order.

Movies- Dazed and Confused, the Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, Half Baked, Donnie Darko, Old School, Zoolander, Resevoir Dogs, Point Break, There's Something About Mary, Happy Gilmore, Grandma's Boy, many more...

Music- Just about all of it. I love music from punk to country, hip-hop to classical. A few of my favorites are the Beatles, NoFX, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Avenged Sevenfold, Strung Out, Guns N' Roses, Bouncing Souls, John Lennon, Rise Against, Lagwagon, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Against Me!,

Books- Dean Koontz, Hunter S. Thompson, Howard Zinn, Steven King, anything music related, or anything I hear is good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I come from the beach cities of Southern California and have seen most of the California coast, but Cinque Terre is by far the most amazing coastline I have seen in my life. I would absolutely recommend to anyone that ever has the opportunity to go and see it for yourself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what to put here, but I enjoy discussing music, sports, philosophy (not so much the Plato kind, but more personal philosophy), theology, politics, personal life experience. Basically, I just like to talk and share ideas.

Countries I’ve Visited
