ABOUT ME

I travel. As a result I have a different view on the world. It is my view based on my experiences. I no longer expect anyone else to understand nor agree with my opinions. Travel has awarded me the gift of realisation. People are just different. Not wrong, not strange, just different.

No short holiday will ever give anyone an understanding of another culture. Even living in other countries for long periods of time do not give more than a surface scratched glimpse. But I savour those glimpses.

I do not travel for the sights, the sounds nor the activities. Although I thoroughly enjoy all of these. I travel to learn about me. A little boy from the little country of New Zealand. I am as unassuming as the land I come from. Too small to be scary or threatening, but just large enough to have my opinions considered.

I have rarely lived in one place for more that 5 years. I do not have a home town. I have home people.

So on what ever day you choose -Drink one for your Homies!

PHILOSOPHY

Always know the WHY. Always try for a little better. If the choices I make increase the happiness of myself and those around me without harming anyone-It was a good choice.

I am searching the world to find my way of contributing to it. RIght now it is by teaching, either snowboarding or English.

Interests

I live an active lifestyle, whenever I can. Sometimes I over do it and then make use of medical insurance (it is not a good idea to try and hug trees while snowboarding). Love snowboarding and travel the world via the mountains. 4 continents down 3 to go.

Also love martial arts, and diving. I try to learn the local martial art in each country I stay in. Thailand-Muay Thai, Korea-Hapkido and next is Philippines-Eskrima.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love music. And a wide range of movies. Especially enjoying watching the movies of the countries I am in. Unfortunately always with subtitles. I also find the ads in a country give a great insight into the people/culture

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1 million person street party in Seoul Korea. 10 days of silence meditating in the hills of Thailand. Parasailing down the coast of Vietnam. Swimming with sharks.
Doing my first Backcountry Chute in the Canadian Rockies.
These are all amazing things, yet the greatest moment was at a dinner when I realised that of the 20 people there no country was represented by more than 2 people. And while there was no single common language everyone was having a great time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach basic snowboarding. And can help with English. Would love to learn Russian, Thai, Korean and Spanish. Chinese as well but unsure about which one.
