ABOUT ME

We are both 26 year old recent college graduates. Justin majored in environmental policy/economics. Since graduating he has worked a variety of jobs, including junk removal and green roof construction. I (Dori) majored in structural engineering and then got a masters in water resource engineering. I now work (I use this term loosely) for an architect in West Oakland designing rainwater catchment and greywater systems.

We also both work for at local Farmer's Markets selling fruit. What a great job; you get to be outside, eat all the fruit you want, and get discounts and free stuff from the other vendors.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that you should never regret anything or play the "what if" game. I think everyone would be much happier if they wouldn't worry about how things could have gone. This being said I too am guilty of regret and playing "what if."

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We traveled for 9 months around the US looking for the place we wanted to settle. We couchsurfed several times during this trip. We decided to move to the Bay area and have been here since February '09

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just starting. However, we did give a craigslist ride to a couple of girls who were traveling for 5 months using only couchsurfing and craigslist rides. Pretty impressive in my opinion.

Interessi

We enjoy traveling, hiking, camping, working on old cars and bicycles (Justin is more the bicycle mechanic and Dori the car mechanic), reading, learning to do new things. We are both DIY people. We like to try and do everything for ourselves instead of hiring people. Plus we have no money to hire people.

We would like to learn more about gardening (especially growing your own food). We have just planted our first garden and have lettuce, kale, peas, and spinach. Gotta love CA where you can put in a garcden in November.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

One day while hiking in Zion National Park we found a tiny waterfall which the sun was hitting just right to create a rainbow. The amazing thing was that when the wind would blow the rainbow would move with the water droplets and swirl and twist around. We watched it for over half an hour before it disappeared. Check out the photo.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I (Dori) am good at teaching people to do their taxes. I realize this is a boring skill, but I'm really good at navigating the IRS's confusing instructions and I help all my friends with their taxes.
