ABOUT ME

NOTE: While all else in this profile is correct, I very sadly add that my wife, Annette, passed away earlier this year. I still delight in accepting guests . Couchsurfers bring a ray of sunshine to my life. We live on a rural property and run a few cattle. We play tennis in Sarina, 18km away. Don plays twice a week and Annette once. We enjoy close ties with our married children and love having our Grandchildren visit. We are planning an overseas trip later this year and hope there will be many more. We also enjoy camping in the Aussie bush.

PHILOSOPHY

Both have good sense of humour,and value honesty. To enjoy company of others of likemind. We have Christian beliefs and like to 'do to others as we would have them do to us'.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have been having CS's for 7 years now and have had some great experiences, enjoying fellow travellers.We have now been hosts to many nationalities and always love to hear their stories. Our only regret is that we only speak English.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have only couchsurfed once ourselves. That was in Sydney. We did meet some delightful Americans in 1991 in North Queensland. We subsequently visited them in 1994 and they returned the visit a year or so later. Have maintained a close email for 12 years. We would love to meet up with some of our surfers one day in their enviroment.

Interesses

Don enjoys gardening, home maintenence, handyman, baking bread, fishing, camping, tennis, travelling. Annette enjoys gardening, quilting, embroidery, sewing, tennis, baking, camping, having visitors.

Most Aussie movies, and Classics like Dr. Zhivago. Enjoy Jazz, folk and classical music. Annette likes to read Biographies.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

Raising 3 self sufficient and capable adults. Don taught at Outward Bound School on the Hawksbury and found it lifechanging. We travelled around Australia in an old caravan with 2 little girls in 1975 when the northern highway was gravel road. No 4WD just our sedan to tow the van.

We'll hardly be able to teach anyone anything in the short visits we anticipate visitors staying, but we'd be happy to share our experiences of any of our interests listed above.
