ABOUT ME

Originally from near Liverpool, I lived in Sheffield for six years (undergrad then working) and have recently moved to Bristol to study International Development.

PHILOSOPHY

A break down of my philosphy for life is (in no particular order) 1. Do what makes you happy. 2. Try not to harm others. 3. Remember those who have provided for you. 4 Give back on a larger scale if and when you can.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted a number of surfers 2008 - 2010 but for two years I lived with ppl who werent keen on the idea. At some point this year I can possibly host again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted and attended community things, met a bunch of lovely people and studied the Project itself using an ethnographic method.

Centres d'intérêt

I enjoy swimming and Muay Thai. I also like to cook, usually Asian, Mexican or traditional English food.

I worked for a mental health charity for 18 months so matters of the brain and its problems interest me; how we learn, socialization, and general psychology.

Although I don't play myself I'm really into solo piano at the moment so if you're a piano virtuoso and travelling with piano, please get in touch!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I enjoy films that make you think, for example A Scanner Darkly or American Beauty. Serious or non-serious epic stuff as-well like Apocalypse Now and Gladiator. I'm a big fan of Robert De Niro and Daniel Day-Lewis so pretty much anything with either of them in it.

With some exceptions I dislike chart and rap music. In terms of bands my taste ranges from the Rolling Stones to the National. For electronic music my favourites include Daft Punk and Four Tet. And kind of linking those genres one of my favorite bands is Radiohead. I'm also really into Calle 13 . . despite barely understanding the lyrics.

I like books that move me, especially stories of human ingenuity and innovation, survival against the odds. Like Papillon by Henri Chaviere or What is the What by Dave Eggers.

I studied the Couchsurfing Project for my undergraduate dissertation and got a decent mark so I can share that with you if you're interested. I'm sick of being a monolinguistic moron, speaking only one language is such a disadvantage . . I blame English culture, globalization, laziness and the popularity of 'Friends'. Anyways, as a result of this I have a goal of being able to explain the info on this profile in Spanish by May 11th next year.
